A project three years in the making... and still not really made...
Amity Cove is the urban legend of a park that was originally intended
as a secret surprise for Iris's birthday, and then his Christmas
present when the project dragged, and then his birthday present again,
and then... well, suffice to say, it never really finished. And Iris
got wind of it anyway. In any case, what was finished, though amazingly
outdated, was so amazingly good nonetheless that I simply had to
showcase it. This is not a runner up, though I'm putting it here at the
moment, but it's fine enough to be considered a "Special Feature."
We begin our browse of six random themed areas with a coaster
called Quantum, by RRP. This coaster launches out of the smoking
dragon's head and reaches speeds up to 49 MPH. A 4-inverioned beauty,
this area really reminds me of the time when RRP was a hot RCT
commodity as opposed to his current status as hot graphics guy
commodity.
Our next stop is map 2 and Evamian Eras, by
Fatha. Featuring Battle for the Lost City, another (as Kumba might put
it) "perfect Fatha BeeMer," this coaster has seven inversions and a
pretty neat little launch. You can also see glimpses of Taurus, the
typical Fatha wooden twister, and Journey to Arkade, a nifty adventure
ride.
Also on map 2 is a posix creation, Shinraigu, a Schwartzkopf looper
in an unnamed Japanese area. The ride's only two inversions are both
shown, and nearby is a Top Spin called Samurai.
Still on map 2, Natelox brings us Mali, a taste of some of the "good
ol' days" when many of the legends still roamed the plains. This area
stems from Nate's "pre-Gehry" days, when his more traditional looking
material was highly popular with the masses. The thrill ride here is
actually a liquid coaster called Escape from San Marino, which uses a
classy integration of wooden coaster track combined with classic
Natelox feeling to create a beautiful ride.
This is a shot of the unfinished, yet amazing looking area that RRP
did in map 1. The coaster barely shown is a pair of dueling looping
wooden coasters named "Canyon Rattler". A glimpse here shows RRP in his
LL prime, with nearly perfect architecture, mixing beautiful atmosphere
with "great perfect messyness" (as Iris puts it).
And finally, returning to map one, here is on of X-Sector's contributions
to the project. It's in the cleverly named "Sector's Adventure
Mountain", a very nicely landscaping mining town that runs across a
river and on a mountain basically. The coaster shown with the
interlocking loops actually has mine train cars, and is called The
Number One Caving Team. Brillaint, I know. The river also has White
Water Rafting, a trackless rapids ride that's barely visible in this
screen. X must have hurt is brain coming up with that one.
Just looking at what is here sends chills down my spine personally
when I ponder how great this could have been. I was originally supposed
to have a part in this too, but the stuff never got passed around.
Still, this is a fantastic tribute to the days when LL was still king.
Sadly, those days are waning, but this is a terrific glimpse into the
time capsule that was NE in its early years.
