Mike Robbins and MickMaximus
Wow, what a round for RCT2 parkmaking.
Congratulations to Mike Robbins, Mick Maximus, and all of the
RCTMasters Club for a tremendous runner-up. Originally planned to win
spotlight up until I layed eyes on Butterfinger's Euro-masterpiece,
Myths, Legends, and Folklore is still a tremendous theme park.
Exhibiting a much more "NE adapted" style then we've ever seen from
either Mike or Mick, and I think all will agree that we hope they keep
it up this way. Featuring a great atmosphere throughout the entire
park, mixing realism with fantasy in a beautiful way, adding some very
interesting coasters (although their coaster style isn't my
preference). Great choices on the different themes, and great execution
on following through with those themes. Mick proved he can make RCT2
architecture with the best of them, and mixed with Robbins' parkmaking
expertise, they make a terrific tandem. Great job, on this round's
"Super Runner Up".
We start off with the Irish area known as Limerick, one of the most atmospheric areas I have ever seen. For me the highlight in this area is O'Brien's Pub, just a wonderfully themed building and I can just picture the bunch or drunk Irishmen likely to inhabit it. There are a couple of coasters in this area (see screen six for the other) and I think my favorite would have to be the kiddie coaster "Leprechaun's Charm" never has so much green look so good.
Shown
here is the park's "Cyclops" B&M Stand-Up Coaster, modeled after
one of the NE Survivor entries, "Centurion". Imitation is the sincerest
form of flattery I guess, eh? While not completely ripping off the
coaster, the inspiration is clear, and the coaster has its own unique
layout as well. In the background, you can find a coaster I enjoy even
more, the seldomly used Spiral Coaster in the form of "Triquetra", a
brilliant coaster that falls out of a mountain waterfall, before
embarking on a twisted, yet short journey. To the left, you can check
out the "Sicilian Drop Zone". All this makes up for my favorite area in
the park, Sicilia. Great job guys.
When it comes to great duelers "The Battle of Locksley" must be somewhere near the top. This monster of a woodie duel is located in the parks Sherwood Forest section of the park and based on the legendary tale of Robin Hood and the Sheriff who seemed to have a problem with stealing from the rich to give to the poor.
Here's
an upclose and personal shot of the "Leviathan" water coaster found in
the Kriti area of the park. Great architecture, and very remiscint of
rides like Journey to Atlantis in Sea World. Capturing the atmosphere
so perfectly, I really enjoyed looking at this whole area, whether it
be the Leviathan coaster, or the Kriti Boat Tours (another large
building pulled off beautifully). Great job on the queue line on the
left hand side of the screen, one of my favorite parts of the entire
park.
Here we find two of the parks massive sprawling coasters. We have Der Drachenstich a wild green B&M with 6 inversions (3 of which are Corkscrews) and representing the German section of the park. We also have Werewolf, a B&M Invert in the Rheinland section of the park.
Now
here's a shot of the "Cuchulainn's Flight" B&M Flying Coaster as it
soars underneath a well constructed tunnel. Now while the Flight isn't
really my favorite coaster in the park, the way it soars under the
tunnel after the barrel roll in this picture just reminds me of Busch
Gardens Williamsburg, and how they bring coasters together with nature
to bring artwork to life. The subtle flat ride "Banshee" sits in the
middle of the screen, fitting so perfectly somehow. While it doesn't
seem that "overly impressive", it's really eye-catching, so nice job
there.
