Here at New Element, we expect there to be new faces continually joining the site, picking up the game and garnering the community’s respect, eventually winning accolades. However the community has also been repeatedly surprised with older members making a comeback, with new skills but also retaining that old school touch. Our newest Bronze winner, rk_, has done just that. His stunning piece of work, Sandstone Amusements, brings viewers into a beautiful park which really captures that warm, nostalgic feel. Upon opening the park, viewers are sure to notice that this is not like most of the LL parks featured on this site. Bustling with peeps, the single wide paths bring a refreshing break from the usual wide path method. However, this does not detract from the park at all, in fact, it adds to the exciting atmosphere which is also enhanced by the selection of foliage, rides, and architecture. The colors and textures used mix flawlessly with the lush foliage, and, although the pyramids can be somewhat gaudy, rk_ has managed to make them work in perfect unison with the rest of the park. Exploring further into the park, viewers will discover clever details, from mushroom umbrellas over eating areas to perfectly integrated statues and Egyptian columns, to overgrown queue covers, rk_ blends nostalgic building forms with neat and creative enhancements. Although the theming gets somewhat monotonous, the combination of those beautiful yellow flowers and sand texture work in perfect harmony. Besides the electrifying atmosphere, the amount of activities for guests to enjoy is really what makes this park fun. The beautiful themed flats fit perfectly with their surroundings, while the coasters tower above the peeps below. While the coasters are rather basic, they are themed fittingly, and provide adventurous thrills for Sandstone Amusements. The highlight coaster is arguably the wooden roller coaster, Lost Pharoahs. Its out and back layout perfectly borders the rear of the park, providing exciting airtime hills and graceful swooping helices in the turn around. One can tell that this park was aimed to please those pesky peeps, and they can certainly be seen having a blast. Although rk_ missed Design with Amethyst some time back, here certainly cleans up here with Sandstone Amusements. He’s hinted that he may have some more of these mini parks in the works, and maybe even some bigger projects! Let’s hope he can carry on his building streak and continue to produce the amazing work he has shown he is capable of. |
