Two Flags Venice Exhibition - Roberto Roboparks
The first area you'll run into is an obvious Roboparks creation. His style is evident (as usual) throughout the entire area. Funny enough, this was built around the time where Roboparks was actually a member of the Two Flags park group, a then-rival of the still upcoming New Element. This area is completely inspired from his "Two Flags Venice" park that he was in the process of making at the time. It mixes both an "Aquileia" and "Venice Canals" theme, practically split in two to provide a very nice, atmospheric area. Here you'll find the "Venician Thunderbolt", a quite simple yet fitting out and back wooden coaster that casually dips up and above the Aquileia rocks, and hovers above the then-creative "Aquileia Splashdown" ride. Lots of the ideas have been overdone since the construction of this area, but Roboparks really made something beautiful when he created his "Two Flags Venice Exhibtion". His second appearence in a New Element collabo (he built Death Valley in Hidden Realm as well). |
Arabian Marketplace - Elrocko
Again, the style of parkmaking is quite obvious throughout the entire Arabian Marketplace, as none other then the since-retired and 'banished' Elrocko (come on back El'). Constructed before the sudden rush of Arabian type themed areas, it still manages to have a completely different atmosphere then any other. It doesn't go crazy on the red and green overhangs, it doesn't only include the boxy-type of Arabian architecture (ala Disney Dreams and Hidden Realm). It doesn't even use the tan dirt paths that have become a necessity to any Arabian area. Instead, Elrocko puts his own twist on it, featuring some of his complex, yet perfected architecture. Sure, the scheme of brown roofs and tan walls may get overwhelming and repetitive throughout the area, but there is still much to see. "The Camelback" is definitely one of a kind, a very unique Inverted Coaster featuring a double dip first drop (due to the space restraints) before a crazy, 6 inversion tangle of steel elegantly sprawls over the Arabian Marketplace. |
Frontier Design - RRP
Here is some vintage rctrealpark, before he shortened his name and became a theming legend in his own right. Before Busch Gardens Lichfield, before his outstanding NE Design "Vesuvius Stampede", before coming in second place in the Legends Challenge (Katcun), and even before he started his world class, unfinished masterpiece "Sea World Atlanta", RRP went to work on creating a nice, frontier-esque type area. Featuring some breathtaking architecture and great rides (in comparison to what was being built at the time). The area was built around the time of Festival Resort's Ancient Lake, Real iPark Amazing Adventures & Beautiful Bush, and his themed coaster "Rattlesnake" (all available on his parkmaker page), so you sort of get a glimpse of what parkmaking was like then. "Big Bear: The Escape" has a beautiful lift hill support system, and a very twisted layout that makes the best of the cramped middle-box area. Just as impressive, the beautiful "Chipper Well Falls" log flume that seems to fit perfectly. |
Corkscrewed Designs Inc. - Corkscrewed
Corkscrewed opted not to go for appearance with his contribution to the IAAPA Convention, but wanted to take the oppurtunity to try new ideas, since that's what the IAAPA Convention is supposed to be all about anyways. This area was also built around the time that Corkscrewed was starting to become the legendary parkmaker he is today, due largely in part to the increasinly popular ad. campaign for his "Hampton Park Mega Resort", so the large, high off the ground, boxy-ish architecture was common. Anyways, onto the three coasters Cork decided to go and toy with...starting with (still) the only Intamin Hyper using family coaster track I've seen (inspired by Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags Darien Lake and Six Flags America). The ride really tarnishes what that Family Track was meant for, with incredibly high speeds (almost 80 mph), huge camelbacks, and tight helixes. Cork also went with the underused Dive Machine, with his creation "Carnal Beast", a low to the ground double looping Dive Machine featuring a 90 degree drop through a broken cage. Also featured is a working impulse! Sure, no big deal at all now, but then it was just after these were figured out, so it was really cool at the time. |
Murder Inc - Natelox
Natelox went 5th, and at the time, really made the best themed area out of the whole group, somewhat even saving the collabo. Built in his vintage, and extremely popular dark-style of parkmaking, featuring the multi-colored paths, the crazy sprawling coaster, and the old theming, it almost makes you nostalgic to the point where you wish Nate would return to this style one more time. Built obviously around the time of parks like "A River of Need", "Coal Harbour", and "Snow Peak", his Murder Inc. Booth also added something new, a brand new style of waterfall (that was originally supposed to debut on the primary version of "Ragnarok: Legend of the Dead at my Troy's Ancient Resort). The coaster in this area, "Kiluminati" launches into a giant mountain off a great straightaway 70 MPH launch, before executing some giant indoor inversions, 90 degree drops, and a very intense layout. You can check out all the other rap-themed rides in the area, including the Ja Rule-inspired freefalls "Rule 3:36". |
DrachenShire - PyroPenguin
Finally, after about 8 months of the park sitting around, forgotten, with only one box left to be filled, I went to the talented, yet still unknown PyroPenguin to see if he could finish up the area. This was wayy before PyroPenguin became the popular legend he is today, and I was actually quite nervous, wondering if I had left the park in able hands or not. He sent the park back in record time, about a week and a half after, and created EASILY the best area in the park, his first attempt at "DrachenShire" (an area that would later pop up again in his spotlight winning Auroras Bay). In some regards, it's possibly the most underrated themed area I've ever seen, as many people overlook this area because of the outdated other 5 areas, yet this Medievel masterpiece deserves it's praise. "Zirillian of the Claw" is easily one of the best Flying Dutchman coasters I've ever seen, even better in many ways then the acclaimed "Diamond in the Rough" at NE's second most popular park ever, Disney Dreams. Really, you need to take the time out and appreciate this area, even if you disregard the rest of the map (not that you should at all), because this area is one of the best Medievel areas of all time. |
