Loopy Landscapes FAQ

Basics

What is 'LL'?

LL refers to the original game in the RollerCoaster Tycoon Series. Loopy Landscapes or LL was the second expansion pack to the original game. All parks made for the original game on NE will require the LL expansion.
Loopy Landsacpes includes the previous Corkscrew Follies aka Added Attractions expansion pack so only LL and the game itself are needed.

What do I need to be able to open the LL parks on New Element?

You will need the original RCT game and the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack. You will also need the DrexlerPatch, see the ‘How do I install RollerCoaster Tycoon and Loopy Landsacpes? below.
Unfortunately the RCT Gold and RCT Deluxe box sets cannot be used to view these parks as there is no version of the Drexler Patch for these versions.
RCT and LL can still be purchased from Amazon and other online stores.

How do I install RollerCoaster Tycoon and Loopy Landsacpes?

Follow posix' RCT:LL guide on the forums.

How do I know which parks are for LL?

Save game files that end in .sv4 are LL parks, if they end in .sv6 parks are for RCT2.

How do I hack LL?

There are a variety of “trainers“, or hex-editors to aid users in going beyond the normal parameters of Loopy Landscapes gameplay. Some of the more popular trainers include darkfire‘s Codex, the Beast, and 4Cars (the LL version of 8 Cars Per Trainer). Common trainer functions include Raising/Lowering of Clearances, adding Cash, Changing the Weather in your park, changing the date, displaying custom messages in the message bar, editing ride data, and enhancing staff performance.

Why doesn't the "Remove Height Restrictions" option do anything

The “Remove Height Restrictions” option used by Codex, The Beast and Dragons IOA 5 only worked on Windows 9x. To Remove height restrictions on Windows XP (and presumably Vista and Win2K too) you need to use the Dragons IOA v6 Beta 2. You have to do this in an empty park however, and then load your park.
