Another upcoming parkmaker, spiderman, releases his NE debut, the highly talked about Action Zone, a high tech, futuristic park that features some great rides and great ideas, and even some glimpses of Nevis'-type qualities in places. The entire park is what we here call "techno joy", and it does get a bit repetitive, although the style changes barely from area to area. The coasters are cool though, with a great line up of steel coasters, adventure rides, and even a very cool SBNO prototype ride that sits in the upper corner of the park. Lots of people have a tough time transitioning from the RCT Station-style of parkmaking to NE-Style, but spiderman has found his nook. He was recently recruited as The Sea Serpents bonus pick in H2H3, alongside others like Blitz-sama, A-K, and Aviator who also got asked. Congrats spiderman on your first NE award, but do me a favor...make sure your other parks have their own identity; recent screens of upcoming work look completely identical to Action Zone...a big no no in my book.
This screen shows the Sub-Zero labs area of the park, which features a beautiful assortment of colors and 'techno-joy', and also two great rides (although you probably only notice one of them). The obvious one is the blue coaster, that is actually not operational though..."The Aerial Fission Gun". With enough tickering, you can eventually get it to work, although it is a pain in the ass...still a cool idea since I haven't seen a SBNO coaster in quite a while. The more subliminal ride is the park's racing adventure rides, "Meltdown", as the race along the banks of the large labratory, with a great layout as it flies all throughout the paths of the entire themed area, through dirt roads, and a sandy marsh as well. There is a third coaster in this area as well, "Project: Fission", the large Reverse Freefall you see sticking out of the ground.
This shows spiderman's favorite area of the park, The Hyperspeed Test Island featuring the aptly named...."Hyperspeed Test", a large custom Thrust Air Coaster (note the Nevis similarities/Vertigo). The ride starts with a 83 mile per hour launch into the TA2K tower, before flying through a very unique layout featuring 15 drops and more techno themed all throughout. The architecture in this area of the park is definitely the strongest, as can be seen in buildings like "Super Fusion Lab". I think a really unique part of spiderman's parkmaking is the way he mixes crazy techno theming, with grassy knolls and bare-landscaping...it's really a unique site that most parkmakers would be uncapable of making.
Here is "Fusion", the park's Sitdown Beemer a la Incredible Hulk, featuring the heartline upwards launch and a truly terrific coaster layout of seven inversions. The ride really just seems to fit so well, a skill that usually only the elite parkmakers possess. While the theming by now may get a little bit old, the same techno-stuff in every portion of the park, the rides and ideas are enough to keep the park enjoyable. Congratulations spiderman once again for crossing the border, and becoming one of the premier up and coming parkmakers here at New Element.
