Out of the two RCT2 runner-ups we have this round, there are so many differences in styles it's not even comparable. On one hand, you have Turtle's "Tula City", good in the conventional sense, with classy architecture, nice rides, good theming, etc. Then, you have Austin Powers, also with his first NE Runner-Up, with an outlandish, "what was he thinking", beautifully colorful park. That park is none other then "Babylon", which has sat in my inbox for quite some time just waiting to be revealed at New Element. The park features several great coasters, all of different kinds, hanging gardens, colorful architecture, new ideas, etc. Austin Powers has defined his own style, and now with a NE Runner-Up under his belt as well as placing in RCT Station's latest contest, he's well on his way to becoming an established member of this community. Can he improve even after Babylon is now the question...
One thing I quickly noticed about AP's style of parkmaking is that he uses grass-theming to his advantage more then most parkmakers would, a very admirable skill in itself. This screen shows a perfect example of this, with the suprisingly excellent "Royal Blue" Intamin Mega Coaster that sits in the far coner of the park. Great architectural effects through the whole ride, a really great layout, nice theming-interaction, and that beautiful grassy landscaping job. Really, sometimes I'm amazed that I'd never seen Austin Powers' parkmaking before this...because in my eyes...he's destined for big things.
You can't name a park "Babylon" without incorporating Hanging Gardens, and nobody up to date has done so better then Austin Powers in my opinion. He really did a tremendous job capturing an atmosphere with this garden plaza area. The large arabian-style domes seem to fit here, and the pillars are a perfect match as well. Not to mention the beautiful flowers lining the large square-plaza, the beautiful waterfalls careening down the frontside, and the ivy hanging from various portions of the pillars, walls, and structures. Excellent job.
Put on your sunglasses cause Babylon gets pretty colorful in some places. This area is basically a haven for flat rides of all sorts. The circus show and top spin are obvious, but in the lower right, barely caught by the screen also resides a Magic Carpet ride, and there are more flat rides around this area as well that somehow managed to escape the camera. There is also the "Ishtar" family coaster pictured, as it goes in and out of the buildings it resides in, using those windows to its advantage. Congrats once again Austin Powers, and nice job really putting your club on the map. I'm not trying to take sides here, but I believe that "Babylon" is one of the nicest club parks I've seen from the new wave of clubs (excluding RCTM & RCTU), so kudos to you.
