These days you never know where the next great park or parkmaker will come
from. It seems from time to time someone new just pops up with a real skill for
RCT and that is the case here with CF. Just a few weeks ago he tried for NE
Spotlight with a very nice park called Vista Parque that just missed NE
Runner-Up due to it's small map size. Now CF is back with another park that I
feel is exactly what a runner-up should be; medium sized map, good coasters and
very nice theming and buildings. You get all that and a little more here in
Cedar Creek.
Does this first screen remind you of any other NE parks? I
see a lot of Phatage's SF:WoE in it, but I think it's a great example of being
inspired by someone else' work more then calling it a copy. Whatever it is CF
pulls it off nicely and even gives ripcord a better base then Phatage gave his
version in WoE. I think what I like best in this screen is the custom go-kart
with it's nice little station and the attempt to add tires for banking, very
clever CF.
This screen shows off my favorite part of the whole park,
the two giant bowling pins at the entrance to the park's bowling ally. However,
Giant bowling pins are not the only cool thing in this screen. CF managed to
make a really nice indoor coaster called SuperNova and instead of having a
normal sign to point it out uses one of the rides cars itself. Now that's what I
call thinking outside the box. Also towards the bottom you can see CF's tropical
bar building and Tropical Escape 3D cinema... I must have been on that, im
posting this park page from Miami ;-)
In this last screen you get a look Kraken which is a nice
B&M that seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. I see a lot of Batman:
the Ride from *insert any Six Flags park here*, I see a dash of nemesis inferno
and naturally the name makes you think of a certain aquatic themed coaster in
Orlando. Within the layout of Kraken we find a great little rapids ride called
Poseidon. Here CF also shows of his skill when it comes to building with
landblocks.
All and all I was fairly impressed by this park. CF you still have some
things to work on like naming and landscaping, but you seem to have a good grasp
on everything else. This park could have contended for something higher like NE
Blockbuster if you had thoses things down and were a little more daring with the
overall park concept like CederPoint6 was when he won NE Spotlight with a
similar type of park that was executed to the max. None the less I am looking
forward to seeing what else you can do. Congrats on your first of what I hope to
be many NE Releases!
