Foreign Legacies By KillTony Added on Saturday, 16 June 2007
KillTony aka KumbaMaster makes his RCT return to New Element with his newest park, Foreign Legacies, his first park on his quest to regain his Parkmaker spot. A very natural flowing park, with lots of emphasis on nature on atmosphere, and not over-theming like some other parks try to. KillTony has a very individual style that is incredibly obvious through this park, and while some parts of the park heavily outweigh others, it's still a pretty nice addition to the Runner-Up class. Still, I think we all know that this is only a mere taste of KillTony's talents; exhibits like Avalon: City of Myths and more notably "Chariot" just prove that he can do much better then this, even though this park is pretty nice in its own right. Still, it looks like a rather lazy attempt in places, with seemingly millions of trees spacing the various rides. But, his talent is inevitable, and this park will still bring a smile to any KumbaMaster fan. Some great coasters, a few real glimpses of excellent theming and atmosphere, and overall good quality throughout.
Here is one of the real great quality glimpses that Tony shows in this park, "The Search For Leviathan", an Intamin River Flume. Not many people can use those white windows as well as Tony (Chariot is again the perfect example for this statement). The ride's layout is pretty simple, yet effective, and incredibly beautiful and realistic at the same time. Definitely my favorite ride in the park, which is both an attribute to how great this river ride looks, but also a little disappointment in some of the other coasters in the park.
Here is another of my favorite little portions of the park, a very pleasent little entrance plaza with a great use of normal grass, mixed with land variation. It's nothing overly flashy, but it serves its purpose beautifully. Still, little portions like this leave me wishing more of the park was made with this much effort, and not just one or two themed areas.
Finally, this shows one of the more surprising portions of the park, the snow themed area which features "Gekke Ski", an Arrow prototype shuttle coaster with track merges and direction changes along the snowy course. Once again, the area is a bit underthemed, but the bare snow and jagged rocks do have its advantages also. Regardless, I think it's quite clear that KillTony has the talent to get his old Parkmaker job back, but whether he has the patience to sit down and create the tremendous park he's capable of making is a whole different ball game.
