Madly Joyful Realms By Marshy, ride6, and JKay Added on Saturday, 16 June 2007
I think JKay and ride6 are on a quest to demolish Kumba's record for most Runners Up ever. In teaming with Marshy, they've certainly added another one to their repertoire. As a result of three parkmakers' madness, we get Madly Joyful Realms... MJR... which is also the initials of all three parkmakers (har har). The original idea was sparked by JKay in an attempt to get Marshy back into the game. As we've seen from Chamonix, he's certainly got skill, but he seems to have disappeared. Still, these three parkmakers crafted a novel idea: each person makes a coaster and themes another person's coaster. Consequently, their three-part format also makes this park perfect for a Runner Up, with its own three part format:
Exhibit 1 is Space Truckin', by (who else but) JKay. His eclectic, colorful style is easily recognizable and adds to the zaniness all around. If the map can be called experimental fantasy, then JKay certain upholds the fantasy part with this terrain invert that flips through four intense inversions and trucks around this bizarre land of contrasting colors and illogical shrubbery.
Exhibit 2 is Marshy's Santaria. And perhaps Marshy was slightly inebriated when he made the coaster, because it's a pretty extremely intense stand-up that hits seven inversions--only two of which are actually "large" ones. A curving drop takes riders into a cobra roll that veers right into a zero-G-roll. A swooping extended S-turn dashes the train into a batwing which leads to... half another batwing? Alright. A nice helix and turns lead to a flat spin before returning to the station. The crazy motif is carried out in here as well, as Marshy seems to unleash his inner Kumba with the color swath (although he at least retains complementary colors; take note Darren =P). As with JKay's area, nothing is ever taken too seriously, and even the landscaping and theming have a lighthearted aura of fun around them.
Exhibit 3 presents ride6's Tranquility, a wooden twister type reminiscent of Fatha's old triangular designs. this beast features a 108 foot drop and speeds over 60 MPH, and the area around it is probably the tamest. I suppose with a woodie so named, the architecture's gotta look peaceful. It's quite pretty, although not as immersive as perhaps Marshy's area.

All in all, we have a park that really shows that RCT is about: having fun. These guys weren't building for fame and glory, they were building just because. And sometimes, that's really all the reason you need. So congrats to this twisted trio of terrific... parkmakers. It was a madly joyful experience.
