NE is proud to present
Port Azure, by Splash-O! Splash first gained attention last year with two impressive H2H entries that helped pilot the Flying Germans to a championship season. Since then, he's quietly worked to improve his game, and the result is this very solid and in some places quite fantastic theme park!
Visitors arrive at an area known was Arabian Village. To their left, however, lies this area, the obviously named "Jungle." Heavily landscaped and teeming with adventure, this themed land features some of Splash-O's best elegant architecture. There's also "The Beast," a furious wooden terrain coaster that blasts its way around and through the mountainside. This ferocious coaster features plenty of thrills and airtime, and is definitely a big highlight in the park. The elevated bumper cars on the lower right is also a neat little detail--a quaint and pleasant touch to the area.
On the other side of the park, the "Land of Nature" features a more "slob/metalface-inspired" atmosphere. The theming is more minimalist, but still very elegant. The main coaster is Sunlight, a 6-inversioned Arrow looping coaster. Around it, the yellow flowers, verdant green trees, and brown structures contribute nicely to the tranquility, and while this atmosphere is obviously not original, its execution pays great tribute to its inspiration
The most amazing area of the park, by far, is "The Waterfront." Here, the architecture and atmosphere approaches Isole Calabria quality. Buildings are intricately beautiful, and the colors are cool but rich, giving a thoroughly delicious visual texture. Shown here is the launched B&M coaster, Beyond the Blue Sky, which takes riders through 8 harrowing inversions along an intense course that rockets around the area. Not shown but similarly impressive is Goliath, a blinding Intamin speed coaster that clocks in at close to 70 MPH.
This park is certainly a great example of Splash-O's skills, and this last section is particularly impressive. It shouldn't be long before Splash is contending for a Spotlight, and if future parks feature consistent quality to the level of The Waterfront, such acclaim won't be too unexpected!
