Puysegur Point Themepark
These days it seems like all NE Parkmakers do is sit on their asses and maybe work on some type of three year mega project you just know will probably never get done. But then we have Six Frags. A few months ago he stunned just about everyone with his SRU "Mystique" and now would you belive he is once again on the Runner-Up page with a little project he's been toying with and even says he finished faster then anything else he has made. SF is definitely an exception to all the NE Parkmaker sterotypes, He even has another park in the works that has most people thinking spotlight! But for now it's just focus on this awesome RU he has given us in Puysegur Point Themepark.
SF really knows how to make an entrance. And this one spawns the parks strongest area, Tortuga. SF is not really known from great coasters, but I think he may have just pulled one off with Cannonball. The midevil/pirate/country side look is pulled off extremely well. Peep friendliness seems to be making a comeback these days, but how can you have the peeps work in a park with paths these size? SF gives us the answer, you make custom paths and use working inviable ones. Brilliant!
Pirates of the Caribbean is always a great theme to use and SF does here to create the parks best ride. It's here that I see a massive improvement in SF's theming skill with lots of little details scattered about. The Futura area (Not pictured) is probably the biggest reminder in the park of the "old SF" with it's big awkward coaster Comet and the simply and repetitive building scheme. The area did have a high point tho in 'Airport Unknown'. What is that really? A dark kiddie copter ride maybe? Well I liked it whatever it was, but the area still took the park down a notch, and maybe down from the SRU notch.
The Wild West area creates a wonderful old western atmosphere, which I find quite impressive as SF is from the Netherlands and is named Hans. The area is the parks most solid in terms of rides with a great adventure ride; Golddig Adventure, a mine train coaster; Lucky Luke and the Jolly Jumper's Plunge log flume pictured above. Finally we come to Egypt. What would you expect to find in this ancient desert? A mine train? Nope, he did that in the western area... oh how about a huge pyramid with a 3D cinema lodged in the center? Nope, SF instead does two water rides. But, both manage to be themed pretty well despite their setting. The highlight of this area to be was the stunt show. Outstanding work on that SF, I love the set!

Overall this is definitely one of the best Runner-Ups we have posted in some time. Six Frags actually will have a chance to come full circle later this year with Europapark: World Showcase, his super solo. If he can grab Spotlight with that, SF will have managed to win RU, SRU and Spotlight all in the same year. If he can do that would their be any way not to crown him NE Parkmaker of the Year? IMO he is the leading candidate right now.
