Tambora Lagoon Resort By KumbaMaster Added on Saturday, 16 June 2007
A park that has been so long in the making, that really suffers from being outdated unfortunately. Kumba's long-awaited follow-up to his smash success "Avalon: City of Myths". KumbaMaster took a very different approach with this park, going with a much brighter setting. Still, Kumba kept the essentials the same. He kept the park a two-map resort, and he aquired the services of various parkmakers around the web to complete his vision. Tambora features more guest appearences then Avalon did, but don't think that Kumba didn't put in his share of work also. He did about 80% of map 2 and about 80% of map 1, so don't let the guest appearances throw you. Now that we've gotten that clear, I just gotta throw off the names he acquired: NeViS, Evil WME, PyroPenguin, x-sector, Andrew, GigaForce, Roberto Roboparks, and even...me :) Great job KumbaMaster, I know you wanted to win the spotlight with this one, and although you didn't you still got one hell of a park here.
This is a shot of the mighty impressive, and mammoth "Grand Tropical Resort", the first thing ever constructed in the entire project. A multi-tiered hotel complex featuring multiple floors, tennis courts, swimming pools, skylights, spas, and tons more. Really one of the more impressive sights I've seen, and was one of the major things that inspired me to construct some of the hotels seen in Troy's Sunken Retreat.
Here is a shot of my personal work in the resort, on the second map. This area is entitled "Elfwood", and I'm both proud and disappointed in the area at the same time. I rushed parts of it, leaving it overly flat in some places, and boring in others, but there are positives as well. Some of the architecture is very nice in my opinion. Above you can see the "Jester's Hour" circus routine, located right next to one of my favored buildings I constructed. To the upper left, you can see the "Golden Grain", a centipede attraction modeled after the one found in Atlantis: Lost Empire. There are also a pair of racing reverse freefalls that I'm actually very happy with, entitled "Dare The Dragons", probably the best quality thing in my area.
Finally, a shot of Pyro's contribution to Tambora Lagoon. "High Seas Rapids", an incredible rapids ride that circles around "The Scurvy Orange", a stranded pirate ship that sits in the corner of the second map. The rapids ride has a great layout, really interacts with the theming around it very well. It also showcases some of Pyro's work from the Disney Dreams-era, before he really perfected his style in my opinion, when it was still a bit rough around the edges. Nevertheless, it's an awesome water ride, and definitely one you want to check out.
