ThrillZone Amusement Park
One of the most intriguing upcoming parkmakers around the site also happens to be the quickest worker this side of X-Sector. JKay, who splashed onto the scene originally with some god-awful n00bish screens of helixes trapped in awkward abstract buildings...to out of nowhere improving at God-like speeds to become the fantasy parkmaker that he is today. While certain aspects of his parkmaking are still being improved on (his organizational skills and coaster design more specifically), his parks are always engulfing and fun to look at. His park topics are always the hottest in the Advertising District...but maybe that has to do with the fact that he advertises about 25 screens per park (cut it down...makes more fun on the release!). While the park is very hit or miss, and has lots of rough edges, JKay isn't going for that 'perfect look' that certain other parkmakers try to achieve. He has fun, builds the park the way he wants to, and usually the end result is beautiful. And as for his speed....he's built two parks already...this one, and Entertainment City: Las Vegas...a park he completed in only 52 days! Insane.
The first screen shows off what JKay is really best at....quarter tile scenery. This area, known as Coaster Nation (as you can read by the nifty 1/4 tile sign at the bottom) is fully covered by these tri-dueling coasters...simply named "Red, White, and Blue". While the rides and area are completely fantasy, throwing all ideas of realism out the window, they also engulf the viewer to fall in love with it...it's almost impossible to not marvel at the great use of 1/4 tile scenery and theming placement. The coasters themselves aren't half bad either...great fantasy rides...but still not as good as the architecture and theming, but hey....JKay is still a rookie...and he's improving mighty quickly.
Here you'll find more of a traditional theme...the Isle of Evil, a pirate-themed coastline with some very hit or miss theming and architecture. The mine train pictured is "Rum Runner", a great ride, one of the best quality coasters in the park. The ride's station is another great example of the beautiful architecture that has made JKay so popular lately, but there are also a few drawbacks to the screen as well. Some buildings look somewhat thrown together...for instance the building labeled "Dock" that looks like any n00b could have made it. Still, for the most part, JKay has proven to be a great parkmaker...albeit a tad bit incosistent.
No...no need to adjust your screens...this screenshot really is that damn orange. The coaster pictured is "Devil's Inferno", another compact coaster that serves it's purpose, but won't be winning any awards for it's ride layout any time soon. This area also shows another great example of the awesome quarter tile scenery usage that JKay is so famous for. While the park seems completely thrown together with absolutely no transitions and no sign of organization, the themes themselves and rides are just too much fun to hold it against the park. While he is steadily improving, I think this park just shows that he's still got a little bit to go if he wants to reach that next level. Still a great aspect to the community, and a parkmaker like JKay usually does great in H2H3, as the Children of the War Hammer will be able to use his sparkplug ideas and great architectural and theming skills to match-up with someone maybe a tad bit more organized. Who knows what the future has in store for JKay...but it seems pretty bright to me.
