Congratulations to Turtle for winning his first accolade at New Element with this RCT2 smaller-sized Runner-Up. Usually, I try to stay away from maps of this size, but something about Tula City just put a huge smile on my face, and I was forced to give him the spot. This is the second time Turtle has impressed me with a smaller-sized map, which now leaves me confused to why he hasn't embarked onto a full sized solo, seeing as he could put himself towards the top of all parkmaker considerations if he were to release a full park with this type of quality. While there is only one coaster in Tula City, and it gets a bit repetitive, I still feel that it could make for a remarkable themed area in a larger map. Still, congrats Turtle, and keep on chugging away and making whatever parks make you happy.
The first screen shows some of the park's interesting and beautiful architecture, really the best part about this fantastic small park. You also get a great glimpse of "Spirit of Tepanec", the park's sole coaster, a B&M Inverted Coaster with a terrific layout, but an unfortunately extremely generic and boring paint scheme, which really contrasts from the purples, tans, and greens of the rest of the park.
While the architecture in this screen (and the entire park) will look very similar, it's still great quality stuff. The use of bricks and the great wall textures is really something to admire. Again, you get a tiny taste of "Spirit of Tepanec", but more notably is the 3D attraction here: "Legend of Tenochtitlan". The placement of the scattered egyptian ruins really helps the park, as does the beautiful purple flowers resting everywhere.
Finally, a glimpse of "Pan's Journey", the park's sole water ride, a very well hidden rapids ride that sports some great snapshots (like the one pictured above). Sure, by now the architecture, the purple flowers, the tree mixtures are getting monotonous, but every park has its pros and cons. So, all in all, Turtle deserves our praise for creating a really special smaller-sized park, with some truly magnificent architecture, good coaster design, and lots of details to enjoy.
