Two Shades of Pink By BchillerR Added on Saturday, 16 June 2007
Another park from BchillerR...following up his NE debut with Destination: Xtreme, a similar in style NE Runner-Up. While Two Shades of Pink has a much more original concept...it's still the same park in a lot of ways...which can be looked upon as either positive or negative. The architectural skills are without a doubt the chiller's speciality...only problem is they get a taaaad bit repetitive throughout the park...and this park isn't even normal map size. Not only isn't it normal map size, but there's a large river that encompasses quite a bit of the map. Still what is there is quality work...and since BchillerR had the balls to make an all-pink park, he deserves this. If only he'd aim a little bit higher and not aim for runner-ups but rather for spotlight, he'd most likely have much better results. Bigger parks, more diverse themes, more variences in architecture, and a more engulfing park experience. Two Shades of Pink is a very nice exhibition of skills and color...but it won't really hold your attention for that long.
This is a perfect example of what you'll find in Two Shades of Pink. Notice the architecture...2x2 everywhere, which isn't necessarily a bad thing...I mean it got Scarface a parkmaker spot. Still, if you individually look at one building, it's terrific. But on the whole the buildings seem very similar to each other causing all of them together to lose that magic feeling. Overwhelming amounts of windows used add to the monotony of the screen...but the shades of pink really do stand out nicely. The steel twister is a great ride, proving that the man can make coasters as well.
Here you see the ride's Cobra Roll, along with more architecture from the chiller. The bottom left is the same old 2x2 that you might be getting tired of by now, but in the bigger building, it's a great change. Different patterns of flat rooves, colors, and architectural structures put together to look very nice. Still, the windows are a bit overused, and it looks like he's building for the sake of RCT2-building...not real life building; as if he's following some recipe that other parkmakers have come up with before him instead of creating this concept on his own.
The last screen shows more of the same. Here you see the Premier LIM Bowl, and more of his architecture. While the architecture in the park is nice...it's daringly similar to the architecture made in Destination: Xtreme. The buildings in that park were great because they were fresh, the 2x2 style was just starting to become popular and he seemed to have the concept down pat. Well he still does, only this time around the 2x2 style of making buildings has overstayed it's welcome. It's obvious this parkmaker has talent and guts, but now let's see him be as creative with his architecture as he is with his theming/color choices. Still a strong showing, good luck in your future projects.
