  If it's a castle, shouldn't it be more monochromatic and have some tall spires? It doesn't look all that bad, but it definitely does not look like a castle.

  i tried to make it look less like a castle from the medieval era, and more from the 1600's - 1800's. that are more for hosting the wealthy. those castles are a lot less like bunkers and thus look a lot more welcoming i think. the older castles with really high walls wouldn't really fit in in this park.

  CSW, not all castles are like that...

   

  It's a really nice start, though I feel like you should make sure that the various buildings inside the fortifications are a bit more cohesive. It would help this read more clearly as a singular entity.

  how? i could change the colour of the small buildings with the black roofs to brown. but that would probably make it more boring. how would you do it robbie?

  Make the colors similar, make the buildings' architecture similar, and repeat motifs; that will make it so that it doesn't look quite so random.

  Let me clarify: if this was not labeled 'castle' I would not have known it was a castle. I know they aren't all the same.
