Sure, we've all come to expect to see releases from the familiar names here at NE gracing the front page. But, every once in a while we get something unexpected from the member ranks. It's been over four years since sixflagsfreak56 has released his work here (2005's Ares, The Mission Trilogy and Lightning Racer recreation) and it appears as though he's back in the swing of things with his newest release and first NE Accolade; Universal Studios Florida. Begun in the summer of 2008, Universal Studios Florida was not originally intended for release or even as a recreation until sixflagsfreak56 visited the Florida park for the first time and became overwhelmingly inspired to duplicate what he'd just experienced. After a trip to Disney's Hollywood Studios this past March, he also decided to include attractions from that park into what became a rather odd, but quite enjoyable hybrid that's sure to feature something for everyone. After traversing the main entrance, guest relations and Production Central, guests are immediately struck by the brilliant architecture that permeates this entire park. Passing the animated Shrek:4D, the giant production hangars become visible to the left and center. Hangar 50 houses "Twister...Ride It Out" where guests can experience the thrill of being a real storm chaser in this interactive show. From there you enter the amazingly accurate recreation of downtown New York where you can plunge into total darkness as you face fireballs, scarab beetles and an army of warrior mummies on "Mummy...The Ride". After escaping New York, it's off to San Francisco where you're sure to get a jolt from "Earthquake" along with a plethora of food and drink choices from the many amenities immersed within the amazing architecture that abounds. Next, head towards Amity Island to have a face-to-face meeting with the worlds most famous Great White not known for burning down a concert hall. Speaking of which, next up is "Rock'n'Roller Coaster" where you board a super-stretch limousine that races across 3,400-feet of roller coaster tracks past Southern California landmarks and slices through the toughest of traffic on the LA freeways. And, to end your day's journey, check into the Hollywood Tower Hotel for a little rest and relaxation. But wait, this is no ordinary hotel. Its phantom elevator is located beyond the fifth dimension, the one that crosses over into The Twilight Zone. Although the meshing of Universal and Disney into one park could turn out to be disastrous, sixflagsfreak56 has successfully done just that in his first accolade submission. Now, if he can just get busy with the other existing maps for this, we can hope to see Citywalk and IOA in the not-too-distant future as well. Congrats on a job well done sixflagsfreak56. Try not to make everyone wait four years for your next release though, ok? |
