    yes, i'm throwing it out.
the park had been started in january 2003 and i last touched it in autumn the same year.
x-sector watched me make the entrance over internet screen cam. we sure had a good time.
this park i wanted to become my first spotlight win. i was very unknowledged back then and made a lot of mistakes. i didn't work out a concept well enough and i didn't use rides carefully enough (i think i have already above 200).

when i made the entrance i was basically just going wild. throwing things together. it turned out quite nice. but i started it way too massive. i had no idea what i was doing. hence the little nspheres tragedy. the baby died before it was born.

after that i fell into my first deep rct-crisis. in that time i looked at schuessler's parks only. later sa as well along with a few others. i fell in love with classical parkmaking and unfortunately started ripping off schuessler and sa. today, i still try to find back to a more personal style.

but anyway, enough of my rct past. i hope you enjoy the park that many people used to have a lot of hopes in for a long time.

Well, i can see how you'd find it hard to finish this after your more recent work. I can't look until my laptop is fixed, but i'll get back to you.

what great times we had and hopefully we can have more in the future.

This was a park I wanted to tell the world about when posix showed this to me. I was totally in love and thought it was better than anything I could make also This is what i want to see from the great man posix.

Shame, this was going to be made into a group park but we never got around to it. Alec and I talked about it a while ago but never did anything about it.

Amazing. The colors are like Mantis gone off the deep end and while nothing is all that refined by current standards it really doesn't need to be.

I'm astonished... Is this the posix I know? Please find your way back man, it would be amazing.

I have mixed feelings about this piece of work. I dont know what to think. Dont get me wrong, it is good, but its a bit too much. Like the screen for exmple. When i scroll the page to see only the bottom of the screen where the coaster starts, that portion looks amazing. Flawless in my eyes. But when i scroll up to see the top is looks, just, blah. Too many bold statements at once for my eyes. The color carries over and the feel carries over but too much was added. They dont go IMO. But i guess thats just me.

That is so orgasmic. Has been my favorite work since you showed it to me in June. EVER. I asked you like 20 times if I could finish it but maybe I will now that I can.

Posix, you're awsome. It was all just...great.

To tell you the truth, I didn't like it. Some concepts were good, and the coaster was exceptional, but it was too busy for me. I much rather prefer your more recent work over this. Too many rides as scenery and colors in that small area I think.

But you need to finish perl.

    my god...
If you have been completed and upload that

It was very amazing and fantastic hehE! :D

Man I wish I could see this. I've been waiting a long time. Can't download parks right now though so I'll just have to wait. Here's what I can see from the screen though...

It's definately aged a bit. There's a lot about this screen that doesn't look like you and I don't just mean the obvious (use of coaster track as scenery). The mix of elements is uncharacteristically eclectic. I could use the word sloppy but that isn't it exactly. It's just that I feel like this is one of those screens where someone used different textures and fences just for the sake of using different textures and fences and that's really unlike you. There's no discernible color scheme either which makes it a little difficult to take it all in. This is the kindof thing that makes me agree with you that coaster pieces as scenery just muck everything up. When there's no discernible purpose for them, they just become unneccesary decoration. Like baroque art - all frilly accents and leaf motifs on top of what are essentially classical shapes. I like 'clutter' when it's used as a style. Take a simply made minimalist theme and then fill it in with as many details as you can think of. But that still grows out of theme, not decoration. That's trying to give depth to a 2D space not just jazz up the image. I knows there's a lot more to the park than just this one screen, and I look forward to seeing it. I do appreciate all the work that goes into something like this and I hope you haven't totally abandoned the idea of coaster-piece theming. But really, I think your work in Audrix Towers was much better.

really ed, you know i'm a follower of your rct ideology that everything you build must have a meaning behind it, must have thought put into it, an intention.

What matters is the idea behind the park. The heart and soul. The essence

to get a strong concept as such for only one area took me weeks. right now i am trying to build it and it doesn't work at all. i'm not complaining. it's just that i don't understand. i always thought it would be easy to build when you know what you build. it's not the case. i'm feeling more than ever unsatisfied with what i build at the moment. i had an eye on your aim account but you're never on. seeing you post this i took as a chance to reach you.

Yeah, I've been away from my computer for awhile, but I'll find some time to chat if you want to. I don't sign on a lot anymore because it's a big time commitment, but I can make some time for you if you want to. It's really the least I can do after how much you've helped me in the past.

It is tough to build even when you have a plan. I always had a plan, sometimes I would practically map out the whole thing on paper, and it still took me forever to finish everything. For one thing, when you plan everything out before hand it allows you to get very elaborate so it takes a long time just to carry out the plans. And then things don't always work out like you want them to so you have to find another way to do it or shift things around. For me, the solution was always the same - keep trying things until you get it to work. Sometimes the result would surpass my expectation (like Battlefield) sometimes it would fall short (like Erwindale) but it was never easy. I was stuck on Cataclysm for the longest time and ultimately what I had to do there was abandon the idea that wasn't working and start over with a different idea. I don't think parkmaking should ever be easy, no matter how skilled you are. The better you get, the more you have to challenge yourself and even though it's tough, it's worth it in the end when the parks are done. You're probably just in that state where you've been trying an idea out for a long time and it's still not working and you're really frustrated. It may be time to rethink a couple things and cut the thing that isn't working. Or you could take a break for 8 months and then come back with a different perspective and finish it. That's the only way I ever finished full parks. :) Seriously.

glad to hear from you again, ed. maybe we'll just chat a bit in here or via pm. i don't want to nail you on aim when you would rather do other things. it's more flexible this way.

I don't think parkmaking should ever be easy, no matter how skilled you are. The better you get, the more you have to challenge yourself and even though it's tough, it's worth it in the end when the parks are done.

honestly, i would give a lot just to feel totally at ease when building. i find myself in fear of making something that doesn't satisfy me. a few years ago it was fear of making something that wouldn't be accepted by the site, but fortunately, that has changed.
anyway, i think what you said makes a lot of sense. however i also think that parks that were "easy" to make look better in the end. but that's just an assumption.

You're probably just in that state where you've been trying an idea out for a long time and it's still not working and you're really frustrated.

you're dead on. pity is, it's a group park and people are dependant on you. not so much time.
i will consider your suggestion of thinking the concept over and doing changes to it. hopefully it will help.
i have also considered taking a break but honestly, i haven't really done something in rct since months. sure, i've started this and that project, but without a concept so that it ran dry in a couple of days or weeks. i don't ever want this to happen again. when it does i feel like i wasted time. still sometimes i can't resist and just build away. especially since i see a lot of people here who don't do it any differently and who pull of some of the nicest stuff lately. like slob.
also when i think about it, i sometimes wonder whether it's really worth making so much theoretical fuzz about rct, whether it might not just be holding me back. but i know i don't want to believe that ;)

of cource every good park, weather amusementpark themepark or fantasie, needs planing. the question i've always been asking myself is: how to plan a park. this may sound stupid but in fact this isn't too easy to answer at all.
i'm now planing for two months on my first rct2 solo, after posix introduced me in the world of parkmaking. at this point i want to thank you again for everything you did. you are a great help to me. from the day on we were talking together i started to think about what i'm building. posix gave me a quote from you (coaster ed).

What matters is the idea behind the park. The heart and soul. The essence (CoasterEd)

i though a long time about this small sentence and i think it stands in a close relationship to planing a park.
posix always told me that i should only plan on those ideas and put them in rct afterwards, but no to plan exactly how to make those things look.
at the moment i'm unsure weather this is right or not.
i'd personally thing that the ideas and the outward appearance have to be affiliated with each other. the outward appearance has to guide the viewer through the park and catch his attention on the most important things. the best idea is destroyed for me if it isn't put carefully in the park and doesn't catch the viewers attention.
    back to planing parks:
if we say outward appearance and the essence have to go together i personally think we have to plan the outward appearance in a way aswell.
we at least have to think about ideas how to catch the viewers attention. maybe by giving it a harder contrast from other parts of the park or maybe by putting it at a special place in the park.
a park is for me somehow like a piece of art. people try to express what they think and their feelings in it like every artist. maybe we can adept something from those artist, wheather they are musicians or painters. i think the last fits more to rct, but that's just what i think.
to me RCT has somehow a history like the history of art.
we have had the time of LL, where almost everbody build up amusementparks until people found out how to build up themeparks.
ok i should stopp here, cause i just came over here some months ago and don't know enough of the history of parkmaking at all.
for me as i am new here i may have another view on those things here. i think there are differnt styles of making parks, which can be compared with different styles of art. what is most important to me is that there we have to accept those differnt styles of parkmaking, wheater we like them or not.
art has shown that there can be stuff without any obvious meaning, just to catch the viewers attention. i think within parkmaking this also makes sense. a piece of track just to catch the viewers attention isn't bad at all, if there is a idea behind it. guiding the viewer to a important piece of the park. a piece of great importance.
this screen (didn't look at the park yet, though i downloaded it) is just wired to me. there is no obvious meaning behind it. no essence and that's what matters. moreover the viewer doesn't know where to look first. you put in all over this screen colourful stuff. pieces of track and such, but as a whole this doesn't seem to fit together. this is no park more a collection of colours to me. it looks quite interesting though, cause it's something special, but it could be much better and i it doesn't seem to fit to your normal style posix.

hope you all got what i mean with this, cause my english isn't the very best and m some of my ideas might be very confusing aswell, but i'm still learning and i want to learn how to become better. how to get up a park that settles my claim.
i'd really like to talk to you coaster ed, but this seems to be almost impossible since you seem to be very budy and i'm busy aswell. moreover it's a big problem that i'm from germany.

have fun reading this, even if it confuses you more then it help. i'm physician which means my thoughts have to be confusing at all.
