    And designs and shit?

Iris said he wouldnt support it, does that still apply?

Not that it will make me submit my work else where though. ^_^

Does anyone actually still play RCT3?
  • Magnus%s's Photo
Lots of people play RCT3, and they all left NE, because of us being so ignorant ...

But that's not my decision ...

If someone wants to judge it then show the staff some screens then it turns out to be truly out of this world good maybe we could have an RCT3 spotlight, but im talking like ultra RoB style good, there will be no runner-ups or blockbusters.

    Yes,
I play, check the Ad District. And dont worry, I understand the levels of expectation associated with Spotlights. I know a few peeps are interested in some RCT3 work, namely myself and Jem, im sure a few others maybe too. Anyway, good news.

    Love love.

if you accept it you will get the problem that you get 30 MB large files .... I mean rct3 doesn't know a object plug in if I'm right so all the objects need to be included in the zip and probally custom firework etc to ....

I'm curius to some really good rct3 work to ... but will it be possible to make a way to judge it ... ?
for as far as I know there isn't a object selection limit in rct3 so people can add as much custom scenery as they want, so will get a park that is filled with 3d artwork ? or will we get a park that is made with creativity?

RCT 3 submissions for anything will be accepted. But you'll be facing strict standards. ;)

I have RCT 3... and could get the expansion packs. So I could judge it, if you trust me. :p

    ^ That's a good point...

Anyway, it would be interesting to see, for a first time (at least in my case) an impressive RCT3 park.

they already have an RCT3 VP program set up at rct2.com, with several winners. If they can judge parks, why couldnt NE?

I have been wondering this... Maybe I should start work back up on my rct3 design then :) Since I stopped since I believed it would not be possible :)

It is a nice idea, it'll also show the true face of rct3 (I just started playing it)...

I guess this would make sense... But it just kind of seems weird to have something in RCT3 on the spotlight list. Most people probably couldn't even open it (I uninstalled it to make room on my computers)... so I guess it would be kind of like LL :huey:
And what about some kind of exclusive RCT3 compo? Like a chance to show off a conglomeration of the works of people around the site?

I'd like to see RCT3 Spotlights, I've got a VP3D so Spotlight might be a nice new challange.

How many people are there on NE that are seriously interested in RCT3? From what I've seen, most people who are seriously interested in RCT3 mostly go to Atari Forums to share their work, since thats the only place they can get decent feedback, and the main place where they can be a part of a community that shares their interest in RCT3. I know I have a moderate interest in RCT3, I have both expacs, and 80% - 90% of the custom stuff, so I could open most parks, or help with judging or something.

But whatever is decided, I think that RCT3 stuff should be a "new category" from RCT2 and LL stuff. Comapring RCT3 stuff to RCT2/LL stuff is like comparing apples to oranges IMO

We should at least have one solid design for rct3, this would bring more of the quality rcters here, and, quite frankly, I think a lot of people here would enjoy more recognition for rct3. I know a design an some other good downloads would convince me to reinstall it.

Proof that their have been releases here before

That was from way back when though, its a starting point, if anything.

Basically: RCT 3 will be accepted for submissions for anything. As with RCT LL and RCT 2, there are advantages and limitations. Every entry will be judged by the same relative standard. Feel free to send whatever you want in. There's no guarantee anything will win, but we will not be banning RCT 3.

It doesn't matter if people are interested or not. There are always a few who are, and I don't see why we should exclude them. So it's not a question of how many RCT 3ers there are or are not. It's just a question of content, and RCT 3 is definitely content.

I personally think the first RCT 3 stuff will be small Designs. Eventually, we may even get full sized parks.

Lots of people play RCT3, and they all left NE, because of us being so ignorant ...

How do you mean ignorant? Just because there's a new game with the same name and a new number behind it, it doesn't mean we have to switch to it. Just because it's 3D it doesn't mean that it's better. I really don't feel at home in rct3 because it's different from the previous versions. They've added so much, but forgot to check if the basics translated well in 3D. The coasters in LL/2 were never smooth, but you couldn't ride them so you never noticed, but in 3D that's just annoying. The more 'realistic' physics are probably a good addition, but what's the point if you can't scale any element properly. Two sizes of corkscrew isn't enough. 3D also has a problem regarding objects. In 2D you can get more creative which relatively non-specific-application blocks. That's a lot more difficult in 3D and you would end up just creating 3Dmodels for your object. I personally think the graphics in rct3 are poor. My standards for 3D are simply more demanding then they are for 2D. Maybe it's because I'm used to high detail graphics of the average FPS these days, but's probably also the graphics style they chose to make the game.
Also consider that rct2/LL play very well on old computers and that a lot people simple don't have the powerhouse of a system to be able to play rct3 to it's max. Although the game is scalable I really hate it if I can't run at max/ near max, because you usually miss out on a game that way. Still have to try if rct3 runs better with my new graphicscard though.
Magnus this hasn't anything to do with ignorance, but whether or not you like the new rct. I'm just not at home at it.
