RCT Discussion / The Strip Project

Hey guys, this is just me dropping by with an idea for a widespread group project. Mainly aimed at you architecture nuts, the goal of this project would be that of a Las Vegas-styled strip. Basically a single road would be made, with a another short span crossing it, and it would be divided into numerous sections (with each section being a separate map, only containing a portion of the road).
Think of it like this..
- = a section of road
+ = a crossroad
given that, our strip would look similar to this:-------+--
From there, each person would obtain said section of road and construct their own hotel, casino, etc on it, eventually coming back here to line it up with the others, in turn creating a resort-filled strip with as much variety and flare as the one in Nevada. It would be a mix of styles, tastes, and the like and would differentiate from the standard theme park genres we see today.
The maps could easily be set to a certain size capable of being completed in a short time, though we wouldn't need a strict due date. I'm looking for a really loose construction time, though I'd keep up with small construction updates here and there, just to keep things going. If nothing much came out of this, well then those who made a bit of progress could easily finish up the thing, throw in a coaster, and land a design with it.
That's the basic idea, but I'd love to hear any other opinions or instances of peaked interest.

I'm so down for this!
Especially the fact that since many of us have such different building styles. Just let me know:] -

Sounds fun, I will join (that is if my resume' is satisfactory ) and bring my A game.
Btw, would it be a recreation of the buildings in vegas? -
Cocoa Offline
I would join if it wasn't on seperate maps... I'd love to see a strip on one long map, so we can see everything at once and really get an idea for the whole thing. I could also do as little as I want (I'm lazy ) and the map could still get finished by faster/more productive workers who just complete what I started. so yah, I'm in if we do that, otherwise probably not, I just know mine wouldn't get done. -

I'm not sure if I get the idea,
do I have to see it as, everyone gets a bench where they have to build a building connected to a part of the strip?
or, everyone builds something and then it'll just be connected to a strip?
Either way I'd like to try it. -

When I was with RCTMasters, we had started a project like this called "Viva Las Vegas" We had four resorts nearly finished with rwadams doing two (one being MGM inspired), Emergo doing one and myself (I had Luxor).
Here are soem old screenshots from Luxor from back in 2003!
Great concept. Looking forward to seeing some great stuff with it. -

Defiantly one of the better ideas we've had for a community project.
No LL involved so not for me. I think the remaining LL players around should do a new colabortion.
As much as I like this idea, I can't see it going far though. -

The main issue I have with a one-mapper Cocoa and Fisch is the object limit. These could potentially be massive structures, as Vegas hotels tend to be (as seen in RCTNW's screens). Now I wouldn't restrict people to only going solo on this, duos (and more) are okay with me, but it would have to be it's own map. Plus, I'm not thinking these maps would be huge at all, somewhere between 50x50-100x100.
Glad to see some interest. -

Dude this sounds so sick, and Architecture/highrises are my second passion. I might try. -

I knew you'd think this was good idea, Austin.
I've edited the first post to include those who have stated they're in, and will continue to do so until we have a decent amount of players. I'm also unsure on what size the maps should be? I strongly want to include a portion of road on every map, that being the only restriction. At this point I'm willing to have either 50x50 or 75x75, with anything in between. -

Nin - If you want, I can help.
If this is going to be more casino based then having it 75x75 minimum bench would be needed (or even better would 100x100) as that would allow you to have a small park (like Circus Circus) and allow for the road. Going any smaller would not give you the space needed. Additionally, I would suggest you split up the road between the maps. In other words have half the road on one map and half the road on the other across the street. What would be even better would be to create a basic bench with the road already in place. Others can download it, take it back to the SE and add the rest of the objects as they see fit only the road would have to stay to allow for the main aerial. Again, I can provide that for you if youd like. You could then have 8 maps set up in an main aerial like I have done with Hyatt and let people/duo's select which map they want.
Again, I offer my services to help set up. Just let me know -

Those were my exact plans, actually. It'd be a repeated map, each containing an equal amount of road, though only having one side. I did want 4 maps to have 2 roads, representing a large intersection similar to where the Strip and Flamingo Road cross. That would provide an added amount of variety to the maps since the parkmakers would then have to adapt, etc.
I'd be eternally grateful if you pitched in; I knew that you'd gain a bit of interest in this project. -

No problem. I'll have some free time this weekend and perhaps we can discuss further. I like the idea of some maps having the cross intersetion or corner lot while others just have the main road our frount. Would allow for some 2 map collabo's with adjoining properties
Count me in for a map -

Ha, yeah really thought this was the old RCTM Project popping up again. Pretty cool idea. But, going off your list of those interested, I am most definitely not interested in even pretending to be able to do/complete something for this project, lol. I obviously have a terrible track record at these things.
