Im am currently in the second of three classes, in order to be certified to work in Photoshop for the business world. However I don't own Photoshop at the moment, and have no intention of buying it anytime soon as its not cheap. What program is commonly used among NE's logo artist? If there is a free or even cheap program out there I could use, than I would love to be a part of the logo artist community here on NE.

On a side note, I would like to be on the write up team as well if it would help bring them back to the site

And Matt, I use GIMP and always have done really, it's totally free and does practically the same as Photoshop.

GIMP is the most common free Photoshop alternative.

I would also encourage checking out Inkscape, which is a free alternative to Illustrator.

Gimp is going to be a learning curve for me, I gave it a download last night. It appears to be a very powerful program with features similar to Photoshop like you guys were saying. Its just different. Ill play around with it some more

    I also downloaded inkscape

There are literally thousands of tutorials out there - I'm sure you can pick it up quickly!  Photoshop and GIMP are both massive, massive programs at this point, but you aren't likely to need the majority of features.
