What do you guys think of it? Anyone been enjoying it? S:C or SC?

I have played it a little bit, quite a fun game. Haven't built anything nice yet however, most of my stuff is just ugly grids.

I think it is the superior city building game, but my issue is that it just isn't as pretty as Sim City was. The graphics are quite clunky, something I found with Cities in Motion 2, so whilst everything about it is better, I'm hoping the graphics will get an upgrade. I think its to do with the fact all the buildings look similar in height and what not, so it doesn't look as impressive.

But still, will get the game when H2H is over.

Playing it from time to time and I agree with Louis.

The game itself does everything right that SC didn't. Simulation works as it should here from micro to macro (traffic works, people have designated jobs and houses). The road, transport and traffic building is clearly superior to SC. Being able to build more and more stuff the bigger the city gets is also very convenient and rewarding (and the maps can get 100km² instead of 4km² big). I also like the mod-part of it which will make it a long-lasting game experience for under 30,-

But still it somehow misses the charme of SC IMO. I kinda liked some parts of Sim City like the building models, expanding buildings like the police station and the specialisation of cities (although only to a certain extent). Also I hope some parts of Skylines will get implemented sooner or later (Tunnels, Day/Night circles)

I think the cutbacks in terms of graphics is a result of the much smaller budget, as art and music is what most of the money goes to in a game. But not to worry, mods and custom assests can really break up the boringness of the buildings, alteast in my opinion.

yeah. if there's modding, someone should just port all the interesting simcity models into this game :p

4 of 5 of my friends in a rct3 disccusion group bought this game and 2 of them never play rct3 since then...

Obviously you haven't seen the SimCities communities that is similar to our RCT community. Lots of modding. (I joined this community after I quit RCT 10 yrs ago). I prefer SC4 to Skylines for the same reason people prefer RCT2 over RCT3.

Some examples of SC4 and yes all screens are from SC4 itself. None of them are mine, they are of other people, they are used to show what's possible in SC4 that's similar to RCT.

I have seen it, and I don't get your point. It doesn't make sense, I never mentioned SC4 :/

Nevermind I misread your comment as skyline looks prettier than SC4. But you did say skyline is the superior city builder game, I would disagree with that and stick with SC4. It probably is superior in scenario play but not designing an dream city a la model railroading.

I said Sim City 2013 was better looking than C:S lol

  • Dirk Pitt%s's Photo
Oh you didn't say which Sim city :p but yeah Sim city 5 is like rct3, not too many people like it anyways.

    Anyone still playing Cities: Skylines??
  • Casimir%s's Photo

Yup! ~500 hours into it by now.

  • Jappy%s's Photo

I want to play it, but I'm not sure my laptop can handle it.

  • Louis!%s's Photo

Cas you got any screens of your cities?

  • RCTNW%s's Photo

Had to bump this as I think it has changed significantly since 2015 and the modding content is outstanding at this point.  I wish I could combine this with RCT2 and I would be such a camper but for now, this has really sparked my interest into building.  Just like RCT2, you can go into a complete sandbox mode where money and "rules" go out the window.
