Ask the Experts / ParkDat Question

    Hey guys!

I've been gone for a bit but I'm coming back in full force to finish the park I've been working on for years!  However, I'm a little rusty with the hacks.  What are some of the things I want to try and avoid when using Parkdat?  For example, there is one small object I want to delete entirely.  Will this cause an error trapper or corrupt the game making it unable to open?  I remember there was something you could do that would corrupt the game when using ParkDat and I'm trying to remember what that was.

In addition, when replacing an object in the Landscape Editor will it automatically uncheck the object being used and check the one that's replacing it?  If I just replace an object in the Landscape Editor while that object is still checked (and thus still in use) will that corrupt the game?

    Much appreciated!

In addition, when I replace object 1 with object 2, and I open ParkDat, there now seems to be two object 2s.  Is it safe to delete one of them at this point or am I just stuck with two of them?

If you've used the object anywhere in the park then deleting that object will corrupt the park so you can't open it [you'll something like "invalid data"]. Replacing the object is fine however, just everywhere you've used the object the new object will appear.

Hmm, strange.  I've converted the park to a Landscape prior to using ParkDat.  Opened it as a saved game in ParkDat and deleted one of the objects.  So far there has been no corruption.  Why is that?

If you haven't used the object [placed it anywhere on the landscape] then it should be fine. You can delete/replace as you please.

Well, according to the landscape editor I have used the object (it has a grayed out check mark that you are unable to uncheck because it's being used somewhere in the park).  And I used ParkDat to delete the object and now the check mark is gone.
