    Pentathlon

The Pentathlon is a grueling event combing five typical elements of classic parkmaking: ride design, theming, concept, architecture, and landscaping. Who can manage to combine five seemingly random ingredients, corresponding to the five aforementioned parkmaking elements? This event will reward only the most balanced of teams.

    - - - - - - - - - - - -

Objective: Build a park using all five of the following keywords:

Wooden Rollercoaster, Dark Ride, Power, Amphitheatre, Cliff

Rules: The maximum amount of tiles for this park is 2500, excluding black tiles.

    Deadline: June 23rd

    Scoring
    1st place: 10 points
    2nd place: 8 points
    3rd place: 6 points
    4th place: 4 points
    5th place: 2 points

    Voting

    Voting Guidelines
You are expected to view all entries and cast a fair vote. It is considered very poor comradeship to vote with bias. We also ask you not to vote unless you've viewed all entries in the game. Aside from the general quality of the entries, you're also supposed to take into account how well each entry meets this discipline's objective as described above.

We are closing polls after ~3 days. Entries on a tie receive the same amount of points. There won't be any waiting for a decisive vote. Votes are also public this time to counter cheating.

There are two polls; one for your favourite entry, one for your second favourite. Votes in the former poll will weigh twice as much.

Do you mean something specific by 'Power'? Or is it open to interpretation?

  • Liampie%s's Photo
    Open to interpretation!

For the purposes of this round, is Topper track considered wooden?

  • Scoop%s's Photo

so does submissions work in the same way?

  • Liampie%s's Photo
Yes! Same methods and deadlines as in the first round. Meaning there's a little over two hours left.
  • Liampie%s's Photo

Yes! Same methods and deadlines as in the first round. Meaning there's a little over two hours left.

Shit. I meant a day and a little over two hours. I woke up and thought it was Friday for some reason. 21 hours left.

  • RWE%s's Photo
    Isn't it the 23rd today?
  • Version1%s's Photo

I mean it wouldn't change anything, but it would have been good to know -.-

  • Liampie%s's Photo

RWE: yes. Tomorrow 11:59 GMT is also still the 23rd in some parts of the world.

    Version1: yes

  • Version1%s's Photo

Does that mean that every submission date is pushed by one day?

  • Liampie%s's Photo

    No

  • Scoop%s's Photo

It would be the same time as this event except 1 day earlier right?

  • ][ntamin22%s's Photo

wait OK so let me clarify

The due date is not 11:59pm the day before the listed deadline days

It is 11:59pm the day of the listed deadline days

so if a round is listed as due July 7th, you get all of July 7th to build and it's actually due the first minute of the 8th.

    right?

  • Liampie%s's Photo

Correct. That's because we failed to specify an exact time for the first round until the actual day came, and we decided to give anyone anywhere in the world the whole day so that in the worst case no one lost time. Until further notice we're sticking to that rhythm.

^ Midnight in Hawaii should be the cut off time for all contests now and in the future

  • Louis!%s's Photo
We used to run with that system, well a system of 23:59 UTC-11/12 but it gets too confusing with the weird time zone, so we change it to GMT as it's easier for everyone to work it out from, which is 11:59 GMT.

I've probably confused people more now lol
  • GammaZero%s's Photo

Wow, just from the overviews, these parks look amazing! Gonna have to check them out.

  • G Force%s's Photo

Kind of a disappointing round.  Really though this would be one of the big events that would see the most quality entries.

Still, some nice maps.  Glad to see some of the lesser known teams producing work, this contest would be pretty dull without you guys competing.  I think the requirements and map size really made this tough.  I found my self getting frustrated trying to fit everything in the small space provided, especially the cliff and power theme.

Maybe in the future less requirements and more freedom would be a better direction, but still its an interesting experiment.

Hopefully the Biathlon or Improvising will be a bit more impressive.

    My park rankings:

    1. Timbabwe

    2. ][topia

    3a. Coasta Rica

    3b. Doninican Republic

    5. Kingdom of Ni

    6. Arrowmania

  • GammaZero%s's Photo

I'm not sure, but Arrowmania's park might be incompatible with vanilla. The game error traps every time I try and load it.
