Ask the Experts / Windowed Mode on Windows 8 64-bit

    Hey guys,

So I'm trying to get this done and am having difficulties.  I've read through Louis' whole thread twice now.  I've tried everything suggested in there but I can't seem to find the file vcomp100.dll in a computer search.  But when I try to download that file off the internet it says that it already exists.

"They" say that once you download vcomp100.dll you need to put it into the following directors: System32 and, SysWOW64.  However, I can't seem to find these directories either!  It seems to me very few people have gotten this to work on Win 8.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

You should put the file in the program files folder where your RCT2 data is.  If your using OpenRCT2, which I would suggest, 99% sure there is a windowed mode option built in.

Thanks for the reply G Force.  Yes, I did hear that about ORCT2, but I also heard it's not really all that stable yet and I'm trying to make this park (which I've been working on for a long time) as stable as possible.  Would you say otherwise about ORCT2?

I would try opening it in Open and see what happens. They've done a good job recently with compatibility so there shouldn't be many issues. Just have backups and everything, same as always.

Would you download 0.0.5.0 or the stable one, 0.0.4.0?

Either if fine really, probably would stick to 4.0 if your not using the launcher.

Just found out that this will not work as my editing is taking place in the scenario editor...  Apparently you can't access the cheats menu in the scenario editor...

If you convert it to a normal save you can probabably access everything you can in the scenario editor through the cheats menu.

How does one convert an ORCT2 save file back to RCT2? I'm new to ORCT2.

OpenRCT2 uses the same save format as RCT2, so no conversion is required. If your save file doesn't work in RCT2, then you've used a feature that isn't compatible with vanilla (and the fix is to remove that from the park and try again).
