Ask the Experts / [LL] keep mechanic at codex-lowered huts

So I "removed" some station huts by lowering them underground, and have a path underground with a mechanic for the ride. But whenever the mechanic fixes the ride, when he gets off he gets out where the station hut *should* be, not underground, so I have to move him back every time it breaks down again. Is there any way I can keep him down in his underground ride fixing dungeon?

(I do not know LL, so take this with a pinch of salt, but according to tid.rctspace.com this is the same as RCT2)

Each ride structure has a seperate list of entrance and exit positions. The entrance positions aren't so important because guests still enter at the actual entrance hut, but if the exit hut is moved then the corresponding exit position in the ride structure needs updating as well, otherwise guests will still walk to the old location. I've had this several times when making rides with entrance and exit huts that are not adjacent to the platform. The entrance/exit positions are plain x/y pairs - there is no z, so if the huts were raised/lowered, the guests will still exit the ride at the station level, then fall down until they hit something they can walk on.

Build the station underground at the level you want it, and place the huts. Then raise the station track with codex (I assume you can raise station track with codex?). I'm about 90% confident that will work.

Alternatively, build the station underground, change the exit's last bit (ride ID) to something else with codex's hex editor, delete and rebuild the station above ground, then change the bit back. There might be a couple extra steps in that that I'm forgetting, but you're probably not going to try it this way anyways.

Do you mean delete the station but leave the huts? Or will it still work if I rebuild the hut in the same place?

My way? If you change the ride index on the huts, they'll stay put when you delete the track.

Now it's saying "entrance not built yet" when I try to open it.

Did you switch the bit back?

If so, the problem may have been the step I'd forgotten. Try rebuilding the huts above ground opening the ride, then deleting them?

Yeah I changed the bit back. So rebuild the station above ground with an entrance and a second exit? I was messing with that earlier but it still wouldn't let me open it.
