RCT Discussion / Add OpenRCT2 option when uploading projects, screenshots, and parks

OpenRCT2 is getting to be kinda big, and since the addition of MOM it can really begin to be the game of choice of builders. I propose adding an OpenRCT2 option to the site:

OpenRCT2 currently allows you to do things that RCT2 cannot handle, it is important for people to know which game the park should or needs to be opened with, and in the future when OpenRCT2 implements a custom save file format, it will be extremely relevant. I recommend adding the OpenRCT2 option now, as parks can already be imcompatible with RCT2, that way the site is immediately ready for the save file format update.

Actually this is a great idea.

The option to have that is currently not possible as it would need to be coded into the site. However, we do have the ability to add the OpenRCT tag to all submissions, which is essentially what this button would do.

When you click on RCT2 or RCTLL etc all it does is assign the corresponding tag to the submission automatically. We can just manually add the OpenRCT tag to all submissions that require it going forward.

I know about manually adding it. Isn't choosing a game version required? I made this thread because I don't want the rct2 tag on parks that aren't rct2-compatible, especially so since the save file has not yet changed.

For file organization purposes ORCT2 is considered "RCT2" in the broad sense the same way WW/TT or RCTM saves are at the moment.

The option is worth exploring as we see ORCT2 branch further out from vanilla compatibility, but as Louis mentioned we don't currently have the ability to add new hardcoded features to the site easily.  We'll keep an eye on it and will do what we can with the tag system in the meantime to help mitigate any confusion about compatibility.

Yes choosing a game version is required, but all that does is assign a tag to the park. Which can be done manually for openRCT as we do not have the capability to code this into the site at this moment in time.
