Islands of Enchantment is a truly awesome park and I really enjoyed my
visit. Along with myself, I brought a few friends, Penguin_BOB, X250,
Steve and the park CEO Chris 'Artist' Turner himself. The parks
entrance took us right into one of the parks biggest themed areas,
Compass Cove.
The first ride we went on was "Search at the Cove," a wild rapids ride
themed to pirates. The ride was made even better by the little banner
signs scattered about adding details to the wet, twisting voyage!
After getting drenched on the rapids me and the guys agreed that
the best way to dry off was on the parks awesome launched B&M,
Cutlass! So we could have the front car all to ourselves we left P_BOB
behind. On the other hand, since he did not meet the height requirement
it was really the right thing to do.
The ride on Cutlass was great with all the inversions and theming to
check out at every turn. After unloading we woke up P_BOB who had
fallen asleep with his nose pressed into his chest. X250 then decided
to have a go at BOB, joking, "So miss the coaster little guy." As X
laughed a random bird in the park crapped on his head, yielding a round
of hysterical guffawing from the rest of us. After getting X a wetnap
we headed to "The Land Before Time."
This area is truly a stunning theme, with all its Dino details and
outstanding displays of foliage. First on our agenda was a snack at the
rib shack where we ate baby back ribs until we were fit to burst. After
stuffing ourselves with meat (just like a real dinosaur would do) we
decided that getting soaked again on the park's other big water ride,
"Tours of the Azga River," was not the best idea and instead simply
watched it do a few circuits around its amazing mountain station.
Next thing we knew we were in line (did Chris have teleportation
powers?) to take on "New Breed," an insane Intamin's mini-hyper
coaster. As we headed to the station we stopped to check out some real
live Dino eggs. Steve decided to be a smart ass and stepped over the
rail to get closer to the egg's, but Chris grabbed him. "Dude, don't
touch them or you'll piss their mom off," he warned. Despite this
threat, Steve jumped the rail and for no apparent reason started dry
humping one of the egg's until it hatched. Unfortunately for him, a
baby dino emerged and chopped down on Steve's groin, much to our
amusement.
After watching Steve airlifted from the scene of the crime to the
park's nearby helicopter-pad, me and the rest of the guys took on the
breakneck coaster New Breed. Following that ride we went on
"Breakthrough," one of the best themed flat rides I have ever seen.
With dinosaurs escaping left and right, it was one close call after
another! After surviving that encounter we headed to "Hammersmith
Forge."
This area was clearly the most scenic in the park with its fine
architecture and smooth foliage. As we entered the theme we got to see
a peasant get lynched (this must also be a Southern-themed area). Then
we took on a few flat rides before heading to one of the greatest set
of dueling coasters I have ever seen.
As a member of the IOA chain this park delivers an amazing version
of dueling dragons designed by Evil WME Enterprises. We split up to
take on this ride as myself and Chris went for Ifrit and X250 and
P_BOB rode Shv. After many near misses we met up at the exit just
as a beautiful woman in the distance caught all our eyes.
It was Princes Sarah, and she had come to greet us. A good friend
of Chris, she gave him a hug and a kiss, then myself a hug. P_BOB tried
for a hug but only managed a hand shake and as she turned to X250 he
put his hands on her breasts and was promptly bitch slapped by Sarah,
then knocked out by Chris, all in a matter of seconds seconds. X250
would need to remain in a straightjacket for the rest of the day.
As we arrived in the "Eden" themed area the first thing we saw was
the tall and leafy tree of life. We admired it for some time and then
decided to take a ride on "Gaia," a very unique B&M coaster that
was co-built by Steve and Chris.
The ride was great and as we exited, myself, BOB and X looked out
to view the picturesque Adam's windmill, but after checking it out for
a few seconds we realized that Chris and Princess Sarah were not with
us so we started to look for them. They were not in the maze, not at
the coasters station and not on any nearby benches. Then on a hunch I
headed to the cave that is a part of Gaia's station. Sure enough it was
them in there and they seemed pretty engaged so I covered BOB's eyes
and asked X to stop video taping. Being himself, he refused.
After about 45 seconds Chris and Princess Sarah came out of the
cave and asked if we were hungry. We were, so we headed to the Loads
caf for some refreshments. I got a sub sandwich, X250 really wanted
a foot long hot dog, BOB asked nicely for some krill, but was given
fish and chips and Chris and Sarah had cigarettes (to smoke, not to
eat).
Next we headed to The Del'Enchaa hotel. I was very impressed by
the architecture of the hotel and would say it is one of the best I
have ever seen. We all took some time to put on bathing suits next and
hit the pool and water park. Myself, Chris and Sarah all chilled
poolside sipping on tropical drinks as X and BOB continued to
antagonize one another.
BOB decided to take on "Kamikarzie" the tallest slide in the park.
Just to be an ass X tied BOB's bathing suit's elastic draw string to a
wooden pole and BOB was snapped backwards halfway down the massive
slide. BOB was hung suspended for a few seconds before his suit gave
way and he fell down the slide naked. X was laughing uncontrollably and
failed to notice myself, Chris and Sarah were behind him. Chris slammed
his head into the edge of the slide, Sarah kicked him in the groin and
as he fell backwards onto the slide and I came and gave him a small
push that sent him flying down the slide. Once X landed in the pool he
was face to face with BOB, who was livid. BOB just looked at the
frightened X250 for a few seconds. Then, in a lightning fast strike, he
bit off X's nose and a swarm of birds started to crap on X until he
drowned. Talk about ending your day in the crapper...
All and all I really enjoyed Islands of Enchantment, the themes
are all very well done as are the rides. I also found many clever
details all over the place and that was a delight. Chris, I hope to see
more work like this from you again in the future.
I also promise to write a Walkthrough that doesn't require Corkscrewed
to play editor and proofread this for 15 minutes so that normal people
can actually read it.
