Are you still currently building on this fisch? Tell me, I'm about to have computer access again and I'd love to join in.

Very cute this realistic park ! I live in the center of France then I know this kind of little parks !

But a little question, I'm new here and I would know how you can make a full screenshot where you can zoom everywhere ? Thanks !

This thing gonna win anything, or what?

It seems to be suffering from the fact that very few panelists are actually able to vote on it since so many of them built on the park.

  • G Force%s's Photo

There are only 3 panelist on the park, out of 25 panelist that still leaves 22 able to vote, which is more than enough.

Its still a bit early, so taking your time to vote is fine, but if panelist continue to not vote on parks consistently, they'll be removed  (or perma banned and feathered).

I was going to give it a 90, but the soccer players don't even have a ball, so it only gets a 25 from me!

Absolutely stunning park. Details, details, details... it's an easy park to get lost in, so beautiful and immersive! Just loved it!

Review and vote now complete! :p

PS: Might try to do a proper review later, but G should do a video review for this beast!  * nudge, nudge *

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
@Steve: I'm glad you enjoyed this so much. I remember back in the day you and Turtle used to be the two NE parkmakers who always motivated me through positive feedback and I was always happy to read your responses. So it's great to hear my work hasn't lost that for you. Hopefully you can contribute to the park again soon as well? :)

@Shotguns?: Well, stay tuned to the timeline story to find out what's going to happen with the park! I hope you downloaded the park by now though? I don't feel that the map on here does this justice as you really have to check out the details ingame. Also: yes I am indeed still building on this and I'm frequently hosting my multiplayer server.

@Scoop: I also really think it is, or at least the first one that was started and almost completed. Most of the map was built a year ago so it's a fair point to make in my opinion. It's been a blast to work on it!

@Liampie: I understand the argument for not submitting it competitively from a traditional NE "only submit a park once and without previously releasing it" point of view. To be honest though, I think when I next release/submit this, the whole park will be massively different, and who knows what might happen to some of the surroundings? At that point  the new park would easily use enough tiles for it to be big enough for a submission even without the surroundings. Now obviously the surroundings will stay in place, but in that sense, if there's pretty much a 100x100 tile park that'll be completely new, I think that justifies two seperate submissions. The submission is also not so much about the accolade for me. I just want the park to plop up on the front page, so more people download the park and thus get interested in following the timeline presentation! :p

@trav: See my response to Liam. Definitely understand your and Liam's criticism though! It's a fair point!

@G Force: Thanks for the multiple responses. First of all I want to say one thing though: please never take anything I say while arguing against your arguments on the server personally. :p I always appreciate your criticism as I think it's pretty honest. That said I don't always agree as I think our real life amusement park influences make us have very different views on theme parks but I definitely think you know your stuff. As I said though, none of my disagreeing is personal, and I'm always a bit excited when you join the server. Like when a critical journalist enters a restaurant. Now: That's a very good point actually for my side of the argument that you made there. Considering my past sudden disappearing acts from the rct community it's really not a given that I'll finish the full park, seeing as I've NEVER actually finished a solo CSO release in my whole 12 years of being part of the RCT community. Now this obviously isn't a solo either. So I might never even manage that at all. :p Also check out my response to Liam's post. I feel it fits the points you brought up as well.

Now back to the criticism on the park. You're definitely right that the park is what should get the attention now in regards to additions and changes to the map. It was purposely cheap so far. Keep checking out the timeline updates on here (the server just shows the building progress, not the actual story :p).

@Coasterbill: You're definitely right that this is currently more about the map than the actual park. I mean, the park takes up nowhere near 50% of the map currently. Aside of my general interest in timeline parks, and the nostalgic feel they come with, as they seem to be forgotten within the rct community, this park was also started as a general response to the "German" village type parks we've seen within the last years. 5Dave's "The Village And The Park" did quite a good job of being an honest representation. But I've seen so many cliché Bavarian German towns I feel, that I just wanted to create something that isn't just the image of Germany that tourists get shown, but instead a real picture of the most populated area of Germany. This is basically my response to the cliché Germany maps (not that there were tons of them but I personally felt the need to set things right every time I did see one :p).

@bigshootergill: Funny thing is, they had one earlier as there was a white tiny piece of trash on the football field. Add to that, there are lost footballs in the woods by the field as well. :p I'd really enjoy a "proper review" from you. If you find the time, it would certainly be much appreciated!

Also a big thank you to everyone who contributed to this on the server! Especially Liam and Alex!

I remember working on this. Doesn't look like the things I did stuck though. Cool release for sure, and I agree with the comparisons to Splashdown and I do agree that this is much better in concept and execution. Glad to see it get gold.

Sorry man, most of this was done a year ago and with so many people joining in and helping with it it was hard to keep track of absolutely everything in hindsight. So I'm not 100% certain what you worked on. :/

Hope you enjoyed the park and those are some big compliments!

  • RWE%s's Photo

Didn't inthemanual was the one who has built the tractor?

  • Fisch%s's Photo

Tolsimir built the tractor and PizzaWurscht the harvester I'm pretty sure.

  • posix%s's Photo

Think this was the first ever multiplayer I joined. Good moment. The park looks cute, but where the spotlight voices come from I don't understand.

    --- OpenRCT2 Only ---

Welcome to Riverland, a small family park in the fictional town of Walheim, Germany.

The park is inspired by my (Fisch) home park in suburban Germany. The plan never was to build something with a big centerpiece, or even something that was incredibly nice to look at, but something relatable just on the outskirts of town, where families with kids would go for birthday parties and where all of them would have a good time!

This map was started and almost finished in the first months of 2016 when we first tried out OpenRCT2's brilliant multiplayer. It is arguably the first major NE multiplayer map ever started (obviously not the first one finished though). Sadly, due to the contest that took place in 2016, we never got around to finishing it completely back then.

Now that the basic map is in place, I am planning to release new bigger versions of the park, as it grows in future seasons. The story of the park will be told in a timeline narration, so stay tuned. Perhaps a centerpiece or two and some actual scenery are just around the corner. (perhaps not though, you never know...) ;)

Have fun viewing the park and most of all the full map!

Everything is as German (Western Germany - not cliché Bavaria(that's like the USA always being depicted as Texas)) as possible for us, we tried our hardest to create a realistic setting for the park and the whole map.

Please take time, to find all the tiny details, from actually correct road signs, and speed traps, to strawberry sales, and traditional German past time activities.

ps: The football(soccer) players will be tired quickly after their exhaustive game. Make sure to regenerate their happiness and energy with OpenRCT2's cheat tools in this case! Please excuse this little issue. :)
