Awesome, ive been waiting for this park for months.

The station improvements you made really help a lot, it fits so much better now.

Awesome work Kumba, I hope to get a video review done for you sometime in the next two weeks.

Thanks guys, it's great to have it done after so long. Great timing too, I picked it up again the other day and decided that I had to finish it for the 4th, which was not hard, I didn't rush it.

The station was tough. Large buildings are kinda a weakness in my game. I didn't love either version, but like how it turned out. I probably will not do a readme or full backstory. What happened was that they started to make a castle-like fort, but the British troops cutoff a supply line and they had to finish it with lumber.

I really enjoyed LL and codex, tho it takes a lot longer to build than RCT2. 6 years on a design is crazy, but of course I was also working on other projects/contests.

A big thanks to all the guest builders that made cameos along the way! Also thanks to Liam for making sure it went up today. He also was like "wtf, no logo?!" and quickly came up with the logo which I really like.

Wow, what a beautiful piece of RCT. This is art. I love your style. Hope to be able to write a review in a couple of weeks. Impressive.

Full of effort and thus very intense. A lot in this. Charme too, like that battlefield. Almost made me feel nostalgic in a weird "goodbye LL" way. As if it carried the message that hardly anyone will go to this length anymore. Not that I think it's desirable to.

Some of the hacking-stacking was innovative and impressive, but equally as much was uncalled for and forced. I realise it was kind of "the gimmick" of this project, but that doesn't make me like it more. The post-OpenRCT2 reinforced peepability into LL was refreshing, and actually a lot of fun. Showed the depth the game actually has when for 15 years we looked at empty parks, always.

I thought the coaster itself was great. Nice and speedy, wonderful ending sunk into the ground which I loved. Some of the helixes were a bit forced, and to nitpick not looking as pretty as we used to do them back in the day. Those ghost train flower beds look like they could've influenced the game massively back in the day.

Feel like I shouldn't vote on this as it'll probably be too low.

Haven't had the chance to check this out in game yet, but it looks as impressive as all the screens over the years did simply from the overview. Congrats DRC, super stoked to see this finally done.

there's something about Kumba's work which makes it instantly recognisable to me. There is always a lot of movement and kenetic interest, there is always the perfect balance between mess and perfectly understandable communication of ideas, and the coasters are always shit

  • SSSammy%s's Photo

but to supplement my joke im glad you're still building, and i hope you never stop. outsource your coasters if you want to impress me with them. i dont advise that though. my opinion isn't worth much. if you like them thats all that matters and i literally dont give a fuck either way.

  • Cocoa%s's Photo

wow very impressive stuff. just jam packed with details and awesome architectural details, especially the post office. but in general, the quality of buildings is ridiculously high (except, I think, the station was a miss for me. maybe I just don't understand what it was going for), a real benchmark of detailed, glitchy LL :p. Nah I love it though, so much to look at and discover. Also, I didn't know anyone else ever made "im maked" references. the layout was good, one of those "would be fun in real life" sort of layouts that maybe is less interesting to look at/ follow in rct but still does its job well.

also lol at "I want to get off dogwood inn dining tables". and it woudn't be a kumba park without a questionable shuttle coaster with a weird layout (and preferably grey with brown supports)

  • Milo%s's Photo

Well worth the wait. Fantastic work! All the nooks and crannies offer so much to explore. Stylistically it is of course right up my alley and the peepability adds that extra spark of life. The standout idea for me was the waterslide banner but the veteran's memorial and picnic blankets, among dozens of others, were all great. The guest spots were all awesome and the park felt cohesive with each building having its own character.

Excellent work, truly an inspiring piece. It is impressive too because while you were working outside your comfort zone, it maintains that vibrancy your work always achieves.

I know you toyed with the idea of working together on a H2H park at one point and it's a shame that never happened because it would have been a lot of fun and it appears we approach the game in a similar way.

I hope you stick with rct despite unloading the baggage of old projects. Maybe something else in LL if the mood ever strikes again?

  • Stoksy%s's Photo

Don't think I have enough understanding or comparative knowledge about LL to really contextualise how good this is.

I did want to provide a comment though and say how brilliantly composed and filled with enticing details the park was though. Although I'd question a couple object choices [eg rooks to support the stage seating] the park just flowed and fitted together perfectly by combining subtle hacks like the ladders, smoking musket, and dining seating, with really quite atmospheric surroundings [the civil war re-enactment really brought that stage area together in a way I wasn't convinced it could from screens]

  • csw%s's Photo

Oh shoot it's out! I'll definitely be checking this out and voting soon

  • Coasterbill%s's Photo

God this is so fucking good. My thoughts...

    - I love that it's peepable. That adds a lot of atmosphere right there.

    - The coaster itself is not only beautiful but the pacing is great

    - The Haunting of Trinity is brilliant

    - Little details like the musket firing, American flag, wagon, dining tables, manure cart and George Washington statue are all fucking brilliant. It's awesome having so many cool little details in an LL park.

    - I didn't care for Kicks like a mule. The layout is ugly and it doesn't fit at all. This is really my only knock on this park.

Overall this is an amazing piece. It's crazy to see this kind of hyper detailing (usually reserved for RCT2) in an LL park. While I really enjoy the simplicity and cleanliness of LL and don't care to replicate this style, I can appreciate the work that went into it and I'm completely blown away by this park.

I may be the high vote (for a change) but 90% from me. Wow!

  • Kumba%s's Photo

Crazy... my first ever LL release (where I made a real effort) and it just barely tops Tempest (84% and a fantastic design) as the highest scoring LL design... tho yeah, there was no AP back in the day when the vast majority were made. I currently have the the top rated LL and RCT2 design... well at least as long as Alex doesn't have a free weekend. Buddy, if you do it, I want a cameo to get a 1% share :p

@Lagom - Thanks, I made sure to give the AP voters a nudge on this so that it would have some space between Gorna Lund. Looking forward to it!

@Posix - Thanks, I knew from a preview a while back that you enjoyed the layout. That's normally a good sign, when you or RRP like anything I do, lol

@tdub - Thanks. Also, looking forward to your trying to challenge me for the fantasy football title this season, no one else seems to be able to, tho I did trade you Le'Veon Bell... just to make it interesting :p

@SSSammy - Thanks, not sure what you mean about outsourcing?

@Cocoa - Thanks, glad you liked the buildings. I knew that would be one of the biggest challenges for me in LL. It's one of the reasons I asked people for cameos, in addition to them all being LL parkmakers that inspired me.

@Milo - Thanks Milo, Tempest really inspired me back in the day and actually was a trigger for my love of frozen staff. I hope someday we can collaborate on something. With the ideas we have, it would be really good.

@Stosky - Thanks, while some of the hacks I can do are a little pointless and Shotguns-like (that's for not commenting yet Zach! lol) I do try to work in some useful ones too, mainly as themeing elements. Codex grew on me and is my favorite trainer now. Finding a way to use the dirt base from flats as an object was pretty lucky and I love the way it made the transfer bay look. Don't even remember how I did that tables, but they were the hardest hack for me.

@Coasterbill - Thanks, not sure I agree on Kicks Like a Mule. I'll admit it was a forced ride to fit a silly name, but I think it's a solid supporting ride in the area. The backward launch always makes me laugh inside as I think of a mule kicking someone with two hind legs. I like the pacing on it too. Does it fully fit? No, but I still love it. I think some day I may add another main ride to the map (of course that would be a clone of SoK in LL!) and putting some shops under the support tower would look really nice.

About the layout... Musket is imo the best custom layout I have ever made. It started one day when I was board in 2008 and built the first 2/3 of the layout on an old LL park map. I loved it and knew I had to do something with it. I decided to keep it in LL and make it into a design. Wooden coaster + LL made me think old stuff and I live in Florida, so I thought America which made me think of the flag, then I recalled it looked cool with 13 stars, wait, why did it have 13 stars? Theme bingo!

    Thanks for the comments!

Sorry about the window size, I'm not sure why that was happening.

Very well deserved score, nice work Darren.  Hope we can see more stuff from you in the near future.

Yoooo I always give you a run for your money on Fantasy. Pretty sure I've won the whole thing a couple times right? At least once. We've been playing this league for a long time, its hard for me to remember who won each year.

Yea, that Lev Bell trade worked out pretty well eh?

  • Kumba%s's Photo

League History. Yeah, well at least I had the keen eye to draft him :p

Thanks again for the video review Russ!

  • Lagom%s's Photo

Unfortunately OpenRCT doesn't allow me to watch this in-game before it crashes, but if paused it works well enough to take a look from all the angles. It seems some wall textures are missing aswell.

But it still easy for me to say that this is incredible, and I'm sure it took a lot of skill. So many great ideas.

    I love...

    - The peepable dining tables
    - Kumba's pimp wagon, and the horse infront of it.
    - The musket with the smoke coming from the pipe.
    - The express rider training.
    - The patriotic banners
    - The George Washington statue.
    - It's Peepable!!

Impressive stuff, Kumba. I hope this isn't the last thing from you. I want more.
