    First impressions...

Strangelove: really fucking nice. Like a mix of World's Fair and DKS, but definitely its own thing. Loving the unique looking architecture. Great optimistic atmosphere.

Spacecrab: The RMC looks fantastic, possibly the best RMC we've seen in the game so far. The park is spectacular because of the ideas alone, however. I was not too stoked to open this map (another non-park?), but I was convinced within seconds. Beautiful work guys.

This one is going to be tough one to judge.   I love trains antd the steam punk feel to the buildings. The ski resort is very very very well done. I will have to look at these for some time before i decide.

Hard one to judge for sure. This season I think we've seen numerous cases where we have to question the need for roller coasters in various concepts. Are parks better simply because they have them? Does not having them make parks stronger or weaker, depending on the concept?

Haystack is certainly good, but is the RMC needed here? It's not adding much to the overall experience, especially given that half the ride is underground. Pushed ton the side, it feels like an afterthought and unneeded for the concept, in a different way than the alpine coaster, which actually suits the theme and believably given its scale and the intended realism this park seemed to aim for.

I'll reply with a more in depth review later for both parks as I have yet to decide which to vote for. Both are very unique additions from both teams.

Quick early review: Both parks made some weird decisions but are executed very strongly. Not as easy of a choice as many implied it might be.

Spacecrab put out the good good tonight

Both Parks are looking strong, still, the ski resort really shines through for me. More later.

Spacecrabs proving, that it might not always be the best idea to build the flavor of the month coaster (RMC)

  • WhosLeon%s's Photo

Okay I checked both parks out for a short time as of now. I gotta say this round is quite strong! The Ski resort is f**** amazing and executed almost perfectly to me. The big train station of Grand Central is also nuts, while the back half of the park impressed me less. Leaning towards Haystack as of now.

Both solid parks yet again. Really enjoyed both. Agree with sentiments on Haystack the RMC was perhaps a bit uneeded and the alpine coaster could have taken over the space freed up but a really neat idea overall with great execution.

Grand Central is another great park with some really solid large scale buildings and it was fun to follow all the trains around the areas. Some nice ideas crammed in there but perhaps loses out to the wow factor of Haystack.

I need to look over both parks some more but Haystack edging it for me so far.

its a real shame about the RMC, because haystack is really nice besides it. I love all the peepablility and the park as so much movement.

grand central didn't really capture me as much. the archi was probably the main pull, but none of it really drew me in. the coasters really didn't tickle my pickle, but the same can be said for the rmc in haystack.

for both parks: the cutaway view is both a blessing and a curse, as it was utilised well in the main resort, but is neglected somewhat in the other areas. i don't see that as a huge problem personally, but i envision the community having a lot of discussion about mindfully creating interiors for some buildings, having others completely neglected. it's to be expected that with an advance in efficiency that open would provide, the old level of effort would not be enough anymore.

When you think you can't be surprised anymore and there it is. I love H2H !

  • posix%s's Photo

Okay this is basically impossible to vote for really. Great work on both parks. The ski one was so immersive. Pretty incredible. And I did not mind the RMC. The idea of having a coaster next to a ski route is pretty cool.

^Have you ever rode a coaster below 0° posix? I think there is a reason they have minimum temperatures for coasters. At the top of a skihill riding a RMC must be more fantasy than Wit's End. (and this park is build with a realistic baseline right?).

Loved both parks, but on first viewing the ski park was a few tiers above the industrial park imo.. Have to get more viewing sessions in though :p

  • SSSammy%s's Photo

^i dont think we need to worry too much about realism in that regard. it definitely has a sense of fun, my qualm is that it could have done with a few more drafts before committing to the layout

I'm pretty sure Coasterbill has, tbh, assuming you're talking 0 deg C. In any case, the builders contemplated leaving the coaster closed in-game and labeling it "closed for winter". However, our team decided against this, because it wouldn't be much fun to have built this coaster and have it sit there closed in-game, even if it was more realistic. In addition, the park is based in Southern Vermont (which is shown in the trail map and there are Vermont references everywhere), and the temperature is not as cold as you might think.

As for those questioning the RMC being at the ski resort in the first place, I don't think this is outside the realm of possibility. Many ski resorts are trying to cater more to summertime fun in order to make more money, which is a big reason why you're seeing these alpine sled-type coasters pop up at mountains all over the eastern US. I don't think its a stretch to imagine that a mountain would want to go even bigger than one of those to attract more clients. And plus, as posix said, having a coaster train to race with or follow down the mountain might be pretty fun. :p

That being said, I'd really like to see some full reviews for both parks! There's good content on both maps that deserves some talking about!

Haven't you heard of the new RMC Pinot Noir + heated seating?
