Jesus Bill. Coolest park i've seen in a long time.

Can't wait to explore this more. Congrats on finally finishing this. An easy spotlight in my eyes.

Amazing work here.. it's gonna take me a few viewings to take it all in. Congratulations on finishing this, that alone is a major achievement!!

I found one of the staff names funny because this is like Kumba meets RCTNW and it's great to see. The ability to distribute objects and still incorporate a lot of small details into this without hitting the limit deserves props in itself.

The scale of this truly has to be appreciated, it's near the max size and you went out of your way to create custom objects (and less than I expected) to circumnavigate the obj data limit. It's nice to see stratacoasters and full size hypercoasters. Speaking of coasters, the RMC and Intamin are arguably the best imo. That whole area is one of the strongest sections of the park and the minetrain and flume have nice interactions as well.

Some parts of this park fall into the trap of 'brown is a theme,' or more precisely, orange, and a little more contrast could have helped this, especially compared to the beach where it's very colorful. But regardless, it fits the warm, southern Californian vibe and just feels like a very 'comfortable' park to explore if that makes sense. This is a park I'd love to visit, maybe after visiting Dirt's greenhouses lol.

For some reason my Openrct2 has trouble navigating this and it crashes a lot, especially if I rotate around that building on the coast. Not sure if anyone else has this problem, it doesn't persist when I delete the big building on the beach.

All in all, congratulations on finishing this amazing park. The size, effort, and quality in spite of the game's limitations make it a definite spotlight in my eyes.

well this is probably one of the warmest parks I've ever seen. dang its big.

there's just so much good shit here. In a way it feels like the ultimate version of all your previous parks, which I was also a big fan of- very similar themeing, atmosphere, and style. Sunset Vista in particular. There's a lot to love. Most of the layouts are solid and interesting, maybe with the exception of the RMC and strata which were a bit whatever to me. I loved the maverick-like and I wish b&m put that many hills on their hyper. Most interacted very well with their environment and would just be incrediblely fun IRL. On that note- you definitely do a great job making the ultimate/dream real life park. Although I think its funny that you include so much shit like "overpriced drinks" and "crappy food" in your dream park! But it is realistic I suppose.

My favorite area was definitely the jungle-y area with the suspended- it stood out the most to me and had a great, mysterious vibe. Many of the other areas were good but blended a bit much so I left feeling a lot of similarity. The western stuff was mosty great though, and I think the custom signs actually were used particularly well here. The park entrance is also super cool with the little ponds and the wingrider across the way. there was actually a surprising amount I hadn't seen before, like the deluge of gilgamesh which I really liked. I think the boardwalk came out really well too, even if its filled with junky tourist crap. I won't mention (just kidding I will, suck it) the checkerboard brown all over the place. With any detail or color or trick in rct- knowing when to use just the right amount and not too much or too little is always the real skill :p

As for the objects- always funny. Although I get the feeling you could have been a tad more efficient if you saved buildings which had signs only, so that you could free up all those large sign wall object slots. And probably instead of whole buildings, it might have been more efficient to save "chunks" which could be reused across multiple buildings with ease. But anyway, you did it, which is fucked- so kudos.

I know its been five years, but it seems like it was so quick. I remember only recently (or I guess not...) seeing half or 3/4 finished overviews and it seemed so impossibly far away to getting this done. So yes, I'm giving it spotlight, and not just a sympathy vote lol. Its a fantastic, huge, fun park. Not without its flaws, but almost not worth even dwelling on them because its just so fun. congrats!

I have spent hours and hours looking at this park and all I can say is oh my God. I can't believe that one person could build such a beautiful park. it will take me months to see everything. it's just perfect the scenery the way the rides interact with each other. The little surprises like the sighn's that change to show the ride wait times. The details are wonderful i cant get enough of them. Your ride hacks are great I love kiddie land the hotels the beach. Oh hell everything. I really hope this gets spotlight I think it deserves it.

I don’t really know where to begin, but this is incredible. It works so much better as a while than any screenshots could do it justice. I love the Halloween details, makes it feel like a living park. It’s just so huge and so surprisingly cohesive that it’s easy to get lost!

It’s not the perfect park, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much orange in my life. The scale and love put into this is so truly impressive that it all just...works.

I wish the rides had music running, but I’m obviously not going to judge based on that. ;)

    Emerald Pointe:

    Positives:

    + It's massive

    + Very good entrance area

    + Sandstorm is good

+ Harsiesis and its drop tower only operating one at a time is genius

+ Deluge of G. is a great ride

+ As is Temple of S

    + Quicksilver station is amazing

+ Conquistador has a really strong station

    + Great beachside

    + Halloween Mazes are good

    Negatives:

    - Checkerboarding

    - Somewhat weak buildings all around

    - Somewhat repetitive (the stations of Quicksilver and Stampede seem very similar in concept)

    - The arabic (?) area is too big for my taste

    - I just personally dislike the roofs used for the Caiman station

    Overall thoughts:

Impressive and ambitious project that is somewhat hindered by execution. 85%

This is really the only thing I have to say after viewing this thing.

In all seriousness, a great achievement for you, and glad to see this monstrosity finally finished. I think what I liked best about this park is how your personal taste for amusement parks shone through everything. It's like the ultimate mashup of Bill's favorite theme park hits, and your passion for being an enthusiast is totally showing when you look at this park.

A monumental creation, and the way you subverted the game's limitations to achieve a genuine representation of your vision must be a first.

I know the technique of making objects out of tedious structures has been used to some extent in the past, but has it ever been used like Emerald Pointe?

I'd almost call it asinine, but that wouldn't fit the bill. ;)

    moes > chipotle

This is what the game is about. The roller coasters are the obvious emphasis, with surrounding elements for immersion, and all the other rides are well-composed too. The end result is such a beautiful sight to behold. I'll be coming back to this park time and time again.

I got nothin' bad or even critiqueful to say, so I'll stop fanboying. Spotlight should be unanimous from the board.

    Sadly, I must report:
Quicksilver crashed on March 3, year 954. 12 dead. :(

    EDITOR'S NOTE:
I have removed a graf stating this is my favorite rct park.
    It's up there.
    But I ain't got a favorite.

The original statement was an act of reactionary sensationalism.

    Still good shit Bill.

    [end note]

  • FredD%s's Photo

Bill... you are a mad lad... Not only for the obvious beating the object data limit which every builder that would want to build a park this size would have to do, but also for finishing a park this huge with this amount of detailing. Who else would have the patience to take on such a huge map? Or even converting multiple objects into one object, even in the shape of walls, just to get the job done?!

Viewing the park in game gives it more justice than on the screens. There are so much details to discover, I'll need another while to catch em all... Also lol at the names of the staff. Overall the park has a strong vibe, but on some places the archy wasn't really up to par. The checkered stuff is also way too overdone, that seems to be a bad habit of yours.

The Gilgamesh area is my favorite part of the park, there's a really strong atmosphere present there. I also liked the resort area, kudos for adding in a TGI's ;)  You're absolutely crazy to not add in 1, but TWO hotels! The whole outskirts are very clean and they do add to the park... while everyone would have understood if you would have cut that off. I can see why you didn't and your effort was worth it.

The coaster line-up is pretty good. Not much people seem to care about the strata coaster, but I do. They are impressive to look at and to ride, way more fun to do than you'd think from what seems a really basic lay-out. You were smarter than me to place it near the park border and not in the middle so it doesn't block any view. Even from the one angle you'd expect it to block some view on the park, it just blocks the view on a piece of lake. Is that intentionally done? Respect if so.

The wing coaster and RMC didn't do much to me, sorry. But I really did like Outlaw, Anzu and Python. Quicksilver is one of my favorite coasters I've seen in a long time. Really well designed and I wish Intamin would build it for real! The mine train coaster was cute in its own way. The diver had a solid lay-out but it's a shame the first drop is so hidden away from the big public. The croco head as the queue entrance is cool but you needed to make the first drop make a bit shine more.

No doubt this park deserves a spotlight. A park this size, this detailed, is a milestone in the history of NE. Congratulations Bill, you can be proud!

Wow. When I signed up for this site I absolutely never expected that I'd ever win a Bronze, let alone a Spotlight. I'm really proud of this park and I'm glad that everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

I'm really enjoying reading all of these comments. I think it's funny that certain things are so polarizing (like the RMC that seems to range from everyone's favorite coaster to least favorite coaster) and it's fun hearing about the little details that everyone enjoys.

I just wanted to comment on a few things real quick:

Lol yeah, I definitely built that ride for me. I knew it was pretty much the most un-NE coaster that could ever exist and I placed it before everything else on the map to make sure it was as unobstructive as possible. My favorite thing about this park is that there's now a realist Spotlight park in the NE database with a 400 foot tall, 112 mph strata coaster and for the most part people don't seem to hate it that much. lol

+ Harsiesis and its drop tower only operating one at a time is genius

Now that I got my Spotlight I figured I'd mention that this is a complete coincidence and I'm not nearly as genius as you think I am. lol

    Quicksilver crashed on March 3, year 954. 12 dead. [ :(]

    Thoughts and prayers. lol

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to comment and vote on this. I'm thrilled with the spotlight and I'm definitely really proud of this park.

I look forward to reading more of your comments. :)

Your lack of concern for those dead peeps is a bit concerning Bill.

@Posix: Why the 'no' vote for spotlight?

  • Royr%s's Photo

Wow, what an incredible  achievement Coasterbill! It took quite a while to explore all this. I loved the hotels, the beach areas, and the street infrastructure. I'm no coaster expert but they looked awesome and smooth all around, and well integrated to the surroundings. The architecture is really good here, even though it sometimes feels too largly spread whilst missing out some more variety for my taste. Still, incredible work you can be proud of! And congratulations for the deserving accolade!

  • historyfreak92%s's Photo
Nice but i wish this was also in regular rct2 cause open rct2 does not work or run well on my pc! :(
  • Cocoa%s's Photo

^sounds like you should send openrct2 a bug request, it should work on pretty much any machine

  • olddtfan51%s's Photo

Congrats Coaster on the spotlight. You really earned it.
