robbie92   Well this was a dark horse of an entry. The way that the ride is integrated into the surrounding landscape is phenomenal; this may be my favourite conventional landscaping in a long time. The way the village, rockwork, castle, and streams were incorporated makes this layout feel like it was designed specifically for this map. The station itself is a remarkable piece of large architecture, and there's something incredibly satisfying about seeing how the second lift and ride finale feel nestled between it and the rockwork. The colours are also phenomenal. I hope this is a sign of incredible things to come in this builder's future.

    Nokken 80?

Sweet custom sign. Huge castle is very cool. Gorgeous waterfall valley bits for both of the main lift-drop sequences feels spot-on for treating this as a terrain coaster. Love the path visibility. The layout of the small castle town outside the gates and the big bad coaster’s station buried in the keep is an absolute classic and done well here. The custom flat is nicely handled and would really be a nice ride with the views it would offer.

The flowers and light green bushes aren’t really doing it for me. Both the castle and the remaining archy could stand to be less monotone. The map needs more breathing room on the edges; the disk-o feels unnecessary and a little cramped. I would have liked to see the castle town buildings have purpose; stalls or minor interior details, the like.

This was the (pretty clear) winning entry to me. Great colors, great theme, great castle, great execution, great hacked flat ride, great little town, great everything. Be proud of this performance, CC9.

First off, thanks to everyone for the kind words. I'm honored to have received such a high score - I expected to see my submission today, but not in 3rd Place.

Now that it's out and everyone can see it as a whole (I definitely think it looks better than in any screenshot I've tried to take) - I've been wanting to share this for awhile:

This is where the park sat the start of the day I completed it. I really didn't think I was going to finish it, but I'm so happy that I managed. I'm really looking forward to hearing what people thought. I know for sure there are things that I could have done better or some aspects that I probably rushed. I'm very glad people liked it, and I'm absolutely planning on using what I've learned in the process in future projects.

This looks fantastic. The story is enchanting and works very well with the layout.

This clearly the best of the contest up until this point. I'll be the first to say that I think it's better than my entry, and can't see how mine squeaked past this.

The entire concept of this is just so well done. Color scheme, supporting rides, landscape, ride interaction, composition, etc is just perfect. I love that you chose a distinct theme and stuck to it for the entire design. It just works.

Really happy to see you step outside your comfort zone and build something like this. I know you were worried about attempting landscaping to this degree, but it has surely paid off. Can't wait to see what you work on next!

Nice sequel to Jotunn and Park Edda. It's also (very) nice to see you do extensively themed semi-realism, you're finally proving that you can do more than grey boat realism. Nøkken is definitely a triumph overall. The landscaping is impeccable, with exemplary transitions from a full tile look to a quarter tile look. The first half of the coaster is so so nicely embedded in the landscape. Having the coaster there isn't even necessary though, since you already did a great job with the landscaping and making it attractive with that stepped waterfall. I also have some points of criticism: despite the map being very detailed and refined, I thought it had a lack of 'little things' to reward me for exploring the nooks and crannies. The castle was very well done, but also bulky, with again not much to see. The most interesting thing about the castle was probably the ground level with the arches and see-through moments. My last point is that the overall composition was lacking a bit. The whole corridor of theming down the middle of the map was a bit messy, as in that it didn't really flow, with no clear sightlines. Often I had to rotate the view to figure out what I was looking at. Some more space to breathe would've been nice. Taking out the tall stand alone tower already helps a little bit. All in all a very good effort, with the best landscaping in the contest without a doubt. Lastly, the coaster layout is great.

I agree with Liampie that the castle's best part was the "see-through moments" at the ground floor. It's a grand structure and I'm sure if this were H2H there would be more life to it.

The coaster itself worked really well with the environment. A lot the big moments of soaring over waterfalls and along cliffs were done better than my entry.. so I definitely agree on the deja vu you mentioned to me!

The village was cool.. got strong Skyrim vibes there. If anything, I would've nixed the standalone castle tower.. seemed really big and didn't have much purpose.

Overall lovely stuff. Love the mix of realistic supports/catwalks/station and then the fantasy themes throughout.

Can't add much that Liampie hasn't said already. Love the mix of semi-realism, these are probably the best supports in the contest. Nice soft color scheme, dramatic landscaping and foliage, this is totally up my alley. This coaster feels like it belongs on this map more than any other in the contest so far. My one real gripe is that I wish the castle didn't feel so much like it started one level above the coaster. There is a distinct lack of features at the coaster and lower levels that peeps actually get to interact with. The roof is stunning, however, and what a perfect way to use the opening of the ride.

Sorry for my short time, beautiful castle, well built, difficult details to make in my opinion, this shade of blue with gray looks great.
I loved the style of the other buildings and the colors.
Loved the foliage, flowers, but especially the sunflower. :)

Without a doubt one of the highest quality parks in this contest. The architecture, landscaping, and coaster interactions are all great and this is a very nice, cohesive park. Oddly enough one of my favorite parts of this park would be the support work. It's especially cool that you went through all the effort of having transfer tracks and supports in the station itself, that can only be seen with cutaway.

And speaking of the station, that castle building is excellent... truly great architecture but it dwarfs all the structures around it.

I don't have much to say about this in terms of critique other than a lot of what Liam said. It lacked little things that would've kept my attention and there wasn't much to explore. Thus while high quality, what could've been an epic mythological park with some minor adjustments instead felt like another generic medieval northern European design.

This was the biggest surprise of the contest for me and shows you're well on your way to building a parkmaker-worthy release in the near future.  I hope you continue building in this sort of style because I really enjoyed this.

While some people mentioned the lack of little things, and it does fit into a long line of insert European location parks, the positives here were too good for me to even care.  The castle is so well done and while people might be able to present castles that are technically better or more interesting, something about the execution, proportions, etc felt so perfect to me.  The blue roof, paired with the coaster colors, looks so great and while ambitious, the purple accents worked out well too.

The landscaping here and how perfectly the coaster interacted with it was incredible to me.  I think I will be coming back to this a lot when I need landscaping inspiration.  More than any other entry, it looks like the coaster was designed around an existing landscape and not the other way around, and that is a fairly intangible and difficult thing to pull off so congrats.  The waterfall under the helix has to be one of my contenders for waterfall of the year, really hard to top that.

The remaining archy on the map may not have been as much of a highlight, but I thought it was well done nonetheless.  You came up with a clear building motif, and saw it through while still adding in some interesting variations.  I said "oh no" out loud when I saw that beautiful wooden church, fearing it might meet an untimely demise at the hands of black metal musicians, so you must've pulled off the Norwegian look well.

Overall this was my second place entry behind Steve's.  I really valued a seamless, natural look with the judging on this contest so congrats on pulling that off so well.

considering how rushed that final section was, I think it doesn't really show. congrats on making the pedestal!

There's some good stuff in here. The landscape uses the coaster very well, some of the best of the contest, and I love the way you've done the composition where the coaster flanks the path leading into the castle. The castle is huge and well-detailed, but possibly too huge- it slightly throws me. Not necessarily bad, I'm just usually more keen to keep things a bit in scale and nestled into landscaped. Anyway my favorite bit might be that little area within the castle walls with the two wooden buildings- I wish the tall castle outpost wasn't blocking one of the views of it. Be more careful with that stuff in RCT.

Well done, and great job with some serious landscaping skills I hadn't seen from you yet. I'm realizing now how stacked strangelove was after all...
