    Sandstone Amusements Logo

Here at New Element, we expect there to be new faces continually joining the site, picking up the game and garnering the community’s respect, eventually winning accolades. However the community has also been repeatedly surprised with older members making a comeback, with new skills but also retaining that old school touch. Our newest Bronze winner, rk_, has done just that. His stunning piece of work, Sandstone Amusements, brings viewers into a beautiful park which really captures that warm, nostalgic feel. Read On...

I must say on a 2nd look im suprised i did vote this quite low. it does bring a certain amount of nostalgia and a pretty good atmosphere. For me this park lost it a bit with the lack of any real architecture. However i guess its not really what this park is about. The Woodie is a nice little coaster and fits the park well. Although 3 shuttle coasters seems a little over the top.

either way well done rk_ congrats on a good little comeback park

I really liked it. It really gave off that nostalgic feel like Roomie pointed out. I really liked the architecture and the whole feel of it. It did however seem really cramped which bugged me a little. I think it deserved a bronze like it got. Well done, _rk.

Only two replies up yet??? Come on, it deserves definitely more!
I'm not the best to comment on a RCT-LL park, cause I haven't installed my RCT-LL... but I would like to write a bit about the overview...

At first I really like the vibe, it's absolutely refreshing. All chosen colors are working very fine. The rides are not the most spectacular, but it's a small park and so it also works fine this way. My favourite ride would be the woody, but I think it would looks better without the helix. That there is no big architecture intensifies the old-school-feeling imo, and I think that's what it is about.

    Congrats on this park!!!

i think it becomes clear when you look back through the scores i have given certain things, that i get very passionate about some things, and just adore them. this park was just pure fun, and i loved it. really well done rK_

You have to love the wooden coaster here. This park is proof that peep-friendly doesn't mean sacrificing style.

Honestly, I thought it had it's touch but it was also very simple and overly systematic instead of artistic.

This park was just plain fun. Only around 6 hours to build one sunday afternoon an a few days of tweaking. It was nothing to be taking too seriously but more or less something to please the peeps which helped me have fun while building. That is something that i lost touch within this game, hopefully the other one of these will help me motivate an work some more on my solo but its slipping away. The next one this size will be more architecture based with hopfully a less "systematic" feel. I'm glad you all enjoyed this for the most part, this park felt like '03 when i first got the game, the sound of peeps screaming on a coaster in LL is somthing i missed an i was very happy to bring that back.

I must have missed this one in the accolade panel! I appreciated the peep in the park. I too wanted to bring peeps back into the game, especially since the codex trainer makes it possible to do so with wide paths.

This park was pleasant to look at due to the bright colors and peeps. Other than that it seemed pretty small and didn't really have all that much going on other than a bunch of flat rides surrounded by paths and flowers. It looked nice, but that's all I really got out of it. Nice work motivating yourself. I like where you're headed and I'm looking forward to that solo you mentioned.

i dont have LL so can only comment on the screen but ill echo what posix said. The rules you've set out from the start are far to restricting. Look at the entrance/exits to rides. They are all basically the same. The buildings dont really seem to represent any forms and everything else seems to be filled with another formula of bush, bush, flower, bush, flower, tree.
Overall the finish is good and you've obviously taken your time with things like the fences.Outlining just about everything. But this park does nothing for me. It's like a polished version of the old mega parks that relied on very little concept but is missing the fun factor those parks had. It would have benefitted from some original idea that could have acted as a focal point

I don't know. On the one hand I think this park is very fun to watch, on the other hand it's quite boring. The ride design, architecture and ideas were pretty weak or repetitive but the atmosphere rises this park up to Bronze level. While I enjoyed this I sincerely hope your next release is more 'serious' if you know what I mean. The screens you showed were very promising!
