With so much going on around New Element it's easy for everyone to overlook great players hiding in the background. With Liviani's Alameda Pier being over a year in the making, hopefully Tolsimir starts getting the recognition he deserves around here boasting his first Accolade. It's time for New Element to wake up and stop sleeping on him. Making his debut in NE's Micro Madness contest, he shows off a less refined style with round 1 loser Matatu's Journey to Magnus. Since, he has flooded the scene with two back-to-back mini parks, Tolsimir's Worldtour which won Year 2002 in the RCT Avenged Clockworks contest, and Maghreb which won September 2008 Road Rally contest at RCTspace. Tolsimir has also dropped hints at what's to come in NE's Fiestas! and included a unique winter-themed Micro Park. Read On ...

Hm, for me, it's not a silver park..

I really like the nice, detailed houses and the "easyness" of some things.

But I don't like the station, including the whole, kidscoaster. It doesnt look's so good.

All in all a good park, but - for me - no silver. :)

i actually have to agree with yannik. see my vote, accordingly. i thought it was bronze, at best, but well, the panel had a different opinion overall. so congratulations tolsimir :)

I think it definately had the potential for a silver park but the kiddie destroyed it. The park, not it's surroundings though, had nice foliage also the architecture was great throughout the whole park. The idea of this pier was nice, too, so all in all it definately had the potential for silver, IF the good stuff would have been there on the whole map. With that I mean every part of the map that the park could exist on with your idea so what I want to say is that the kiddie coaster just didn't work in my opinion. You should have added more arcade and more little attractions there and then you might still have added a kiddie coaster that would also have some parts on the beach so that it would still be long enough. It might also just have been a kiddie coaster that is just made of a lift, a turn, a drop, a helix, and another turn but it had to be included in the actual overall theming in my opinion. I actually have to say that I've got a lot of ideas in my head right now how you might have finished this but the one with this kiddie is not one of them. For me it would have been between silver and bronze because it is stronger than the bronze park we had before.

Congratulations and have fun with what you build next!

    Wow, this is "Silver" already?!
Nice little park, but nothing more than that imo.. I doubt I would give it even "Bronze", as I thought little concept parks like this pier park are perfect for "Concept Creations"..

Ah well, guess I'm just spoiled with recent PT3 and steve's/rrp's design..

    Congrats though,

^I agree completely. The coaster is too short to really be worth anything, the rides are all generic, the foliage is just okay, and the park is very small and has minimal substance.

The architecture, that awesome sign that sticks up above the pier, and the pier itself were very nice, but deffinitely not enough to warrant a silver. Concept Creation would have been more than perfect for this. It's just too small of a park to be judged on any other scale.

I feel bad for ripping on this, because it shows a lot of potential, especially architecturally. Keep working man, because a larger-scale park of yours with some good coaster layouts would deffinitely be sick.

This was a nice entry but i cant help but feel that if the coasters had been slighly more interesting or even more out of context then i would have enjoyed it more.Favourite parts are definately the simulator area and surrounding detailed backlot.Congrats on the win anyway

Why there's a mechanic on the island??

Ah, I forgot to say, that I really love this "Alameda Pier" tower. :)

First of all I want to thanks the Prep group and the panel for making my park a part of this great site :)
haha, you wont find my avatar in your email folder ;)

To all: Yeah the Kiddie is definitely the worst part of the park. In the end I just lost interest in this, so I wanted to finish it quickly. Well it is a mistake I see. However I'd like to see the opinion of those 'high-voters', too ;)

SF, burns: yeah, actually I wanted to send it in as CC, but they dropped the minimum size of Spotlightsubmission, so i thought why dont send it in as normal park. I don't see such a concept in it (Marriott's also has a large pier).

YK: just an easter egg :p

I really liked this one a lot. It's obvious your style is much more refined now. It's good to know you have the drive to finish things. I look forward to all your stuff in the future.

Also, you have to remember, the categories aren't black and white. There is room in between, this one falls on the lower end of Silver.

Difficult to rate this one - for me, there were bits I loved; I thought a lot of the map was pulled off really well; particularly the area immediately after the entrance gates. However, as well as it not being consistently good (yes, I'll point out the kiddie coaster too ;)), there wasn't ENOUGH there to hold my attention for that long. I agree mostly with zburns; it does feel more like a concept creation than a full-blown park. I'd have pitched this as a Bronze.

I think it warrants a Silver, since I equate it to about a Runner Up. It was smaller, but the quality was generally good, and size shouldn't really factor into the Bronze through Gold ratings (though I was tempted to give it a somewhat lower score, as it certainly had a CC feel). I gave it a 15, which is high compared to the minimum Silver requirement of 12, but you've got to consider that the minimum levels were based on our ratings, not the other way around, and I usually vote on the higher end of the spectrum.
