A new year that marks the beginning of our 5 year plan. A plan to expand every facet: number of rides, shops, eating facilities, facilities, attendance,... This year we executed the first phase of our plan, but we also had to finish something we didn't do last year.

Because there was a third new ride that had to open last year, but didn't due to technical problems. But now, we can finally open Bubbleworks to the public! Bubbleworks is a darkride where you float in a boat that goes trough a factory where they produce bathing ducks. You get to see ducks from every size, in every color in many scenes. Above that, we included some cool water effects in it. Werner Wardley really likes ducks, so he is very proud on what he calls his masterpiece.

But Bubbleworks isn't the biggest addition this year. That is our new entrance! From now on, the view of entering the park is completely different. Our previous entrance was really too small for the growing attendance we have, so we had to do something about that. The new entrance is moved to the left so it connects with the square before the oldtimers and the entrance of the new medieval zone. The new entrance is big, but with this we can go on for many years.

This is also the reason the wooden wild mouse had to go. Fans were furious about this decision but we can calm them: we still have it in storage. We don't want to get rid of it, but we are still searching a good spot for it. With the new entrance we also ditched the pay per ride system. From now on, there's one admission fee to enter the park and once you're in you can do all the rides and enjoy the Blaarmeersen experience to the fullest.

But what about the Blaarmeersen beach you think?! Sure, our agreement with the city government states that the beach should be freely accessible 24/24, 7/7. We solved that by using a tunnel for pedestrians which goes from the entrance of the park to the beach. This way we keep our agreement to keep the beach accessible and expand our park further on.

The tunnel was not received well with the city government, but it's the only solution to grow as a park. The city government finally placed a footpath on the road to the park. And De Lijn (Belgian bus company) finally installed a stop near our park so we are connected with the city center. From now bus 38 and 39 take you to our park! We improved our parking lot by asphalting it completely and placing a footpath next to it so visitors can walk safely from their car to the park and vice versa.

We also made place for a info desk. You can enter it from both sides from the entrance if you have questions or complaints. Next to the info desk we added bumper cars. A completely new ride. And left of the bumper cars we added a selling point that sells soft drinks. The building on the other side that was used for selling tickets for the rides, is now an ice cream selling point.

With the new entrance, we had to move the swing mill yet again, but now it has a prominent place on the entrance square. It is the first ride visitors will notice when entering the park. On the square in front of it we added dancing fountains. Pure fun for the kids and guaranteed refreshment on hot summer days.

Now we don't have a path to the beach anymore from the park, we gained some space and used that to place a path between the white horse restaurant to the dolphin show theater. This way, we created a new open zone that will be targeted to kids. Another new ride we added is a tilted whirl. We also placed a little fountain near it.

The other new ride, in this zone, is a kart circuit named Grand Prix. We've also placed a little sell point in front of it that sells cotton candy. Because kids just love cotton candy. On the place where the picknick zone used to be, you notice green walls. That means something new will rise there very soon.

But what? We won't tell you. Because next year we will execute the second phase of our five year plan and we will celebrate our tenth anniversary! Reason enough to expect something big.

Love the surroundings around the entrance, very classy in a good way.

Fantastic. I love the rushed MS Paint style you've applied to the screen, i don't think i've ever seen that properly captured in RCT2. Truly one of the best screens ever uploaded.

Beautiful screens, Fred. That open bumper cars building is ingenious! Can't wait to see more.
