Seeing Cedar Point and not visiting? That's the saddest story I've heard :(

  • Faas%s's Photo

Yeah, it only opened a week later, pretty sad. Got a few pictures though.

MCI, Jonny93 and I drove 106km to Walygator just to see that it was closed because of light rain.

Yeah but Walygator and Cedar Point... :p

Kinda funny more people like Millie here more than Maverick, I've only seen Maverick mentioned here once while on TPR, Maverick is consistently their top 1-2 choice for best coaster and its usually almost always better than Millie for people's ranking.

Yeah that's a interesting point, but the loudest voices aren't always the majority opinion lol. So I'm not too surprised. For example the online community thinks Excalibur at Valleyfair is amazing and everyone I've talked to in real life thinks it's rough (as in poor transitions and shaping since it does feature steel rails) and too short, haha :p I'm in the second camp on that one. Arrow, in general, sucks lol.

    1. Outlaw Run
    2. Millennium Force
    3. Maverick
    4. New Texas Giant
    5. Batman the Ride (Fiesta Texas)

I used to think MF was dumb and overhyped until I rode it front row...

I want to know why you were in Sandusky to begin with.

Also all the outlaw run mentions, Lightning Rod will be INSANE, it's like a supersized OR.

Yea really, Sandusky is just terrible.

    BIZARRO.

Giant Dipper Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

I thought millennium force felt short. A few really awesome elements and its over. Maverick is a full ride experience. I think that may be often the case- taller = morr expensive = less space for ride stuff. Look at the content on a megalite vs i385 (or whatever its called). The latter is some big fast turns and maybe 3 proper hills

I was traveling from Detroit to Cleveland. So I figured why not take a quick peek at Cedar Point.
Now the questions come why I was in Detroit probably.

Limiting myself here to American coasters that I have actually ridden:

    1. Lightning Racer (Lightning)
    2. Tatsu
    3. Alpengeist
    4. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (I'm sorry but those seat speakers make the ride)
    5. Lightning Racer (Thunder)

    Honorable Mentions:
Outlaw Run: fun ride, too short
    X2: " "
Phoenix: Classic airtime woodie. Lap bars are about at your chin.
Millennium Force: Rode it once years ago. Horrible wait time.
Big Thunder Mountain (both versions, although Anaheim's is 200% better): Great family coaster. Smooth and a lot of fun for grandma and Jimmy too.

    Dishonorable Mentions:
Matterhorn Bobsleds: I know the history, but this is one painful ride.
Kingda Ka: So much wait for a gimmicky 20 sec ride.
    Top Thrill Dragster: " "
Superman: Escape from Krypton: " "
That Harry Potter Kiddie Coaster I Waited 3 Hours For So I Could Ride Every Coaster At Universal: self explanatory.

If you waited 3 hours for "flight of the hippogriff" then you did something seriously wrong

Detroit has some nice attractions, Greenfield Village & The Henry Ford Museum are both cool. There are some casinos as well. Detroit itself is fine, just the surrounding suburbs are awful. Still seems like an odd place for a European to visit while in America.

It was one of the first Saturdays after they unveiled the Wizarding World, probably a 45 min wait to get in a shop.

Visited no attraction and visited about all of the inner suburbs. I did study Urban Geography so that's why I was there, and for an urban geographer it's one of the coolest places to visit.
