Theme Park Discussion / So I just got banned from Theme Park Review's Facebook Page...

Bit of a trigger warning... I guess? A little while ago, Theme Park Review posted a video of a Dubai theme park on their Facebook page, it looked interesting, shiny and whatever, and admittedly there were plenty of ignorant comments on there on both sides. 

 

I'm not one of those people, I pay attention to a lot of world events and read the Human Rights Watch on occasion. I know that Dubai has very little anti-discrimination laws with regards to their laborers and made the absolute, most innocuous comment as a response to the admin's complaints. They were  angry about many of the negative comments.

 

My comment simply stated that with regards to many of large-scale projects in the emirate, they have used migrant workers that were treated poorly and lived in bad conditions. At the end, I simply stated something along the lines of "I hope the developers of this park don't do the same." Negative? I guess but if that's considered offensive and inflammatory then almost everything other than blatant comments is.

 

Long story short, I checked the page today, saw that my post was deleted and that I could not comment or like the page. The admin of that page apparently rules with an iron fist. I'm not extremely annoyed by this but still quite frankly a little pissed. That's not only underhanded and rude, but also a bit childish.

In defense of TPR the amount of pure idiocy they have to deal with on social media on a daily basis is astounding. When you're bombarded with it like that it becomes easy to have no tolerance left for it whatsoever and just jump on people for small things. Lol seriously if you read their comments you'll sort of see what I mean.

I was banned there for posting twice in two years....just a request for park recreations on two separate occasions...haven't been back since.

What's the point of having this topic on this site? 

Nevermind, it's all good guys. I emailed him not too long ago explaining my intentions and asking about the ban. Needless to say, he repealed it.

My issue is that I don't understand what the hell you're trying to pull here. Are you just looking to get a rise out of people by intentionally acting like a moron? Or do you genuinely not understand what you're doing, just trying to latch on to controversial things you've seen around the internet, in which case you're aspiring to be like degenerates whose only purpose is to piss off other people. It isn't funny.

Yeah tpr is fucking weird sometimes. Ive been set to "about to be banned" for 5 years because of a spelling mistake.

I found their coverage of the sea world/blackfish stuff really frustrating too. Liking rollercoasters doesn't mean you have to be viciously against the movie. Maybe seaworld was in the wrong? But anyone who posted even a bit of a "well maybe..." was violently destroyed in the topics with frankly dumb arguements.

I still like busch gardens but think treating animals terribly for entertainment is just selfish and clearly a problem. But for some reason tpr gets viciously defensive about anything regarding rollercoasters (eg jaguars post about migrant workers)

I don't even recognize TPR as a legit source. As far as coaster enthusiasts go, there are the run-of-the-mill guys and then you have the others. I wasn't planning on getting involved in this argument, but I think the best approach to this is to just not give a fuck. Forgive me for posting this while highly intoxicated, but that's just my two cents. If I don't agree with something I'm not going to attack it or complain. But I certainly won't give them any of my attention. As far as TPR goes, I'm just gonna pretend they're off in their own universe.

I used to love TPR, but Robb went crazy and got full of himself around 2006.
