RCT Discussion / Custom Supports make me want to die

  • SensualEthiopianPolice%s's Photo

They constantly clip through objects, they almost never fit to the track at all. Why? Why is god dead?

  • nicman%s's Photo

They dont have to be perfect, even the best parks don't bother with perfection, it just takes time to get used to which objects to use. For example here is one of my recent supports.

    See, it doesn't look perfect.

Track files are fucking weird compared to scenery and their track will always have some sort of collision issue regardless of how hard you try.

  • Xeccah%s's Photo

Also God died when you were born. Just a convenient coincidence.

Is this rhetorical or what? I feel like there was a much better way to ask this question, like "Hey could I get some tips on how to build supports accurately?" And also maybe post it in the correct forum, too.

And Shotguns is wrong -- there is no God.

This thread's purpose is to circlejerk about complaining about custom supports, not actual help. Jesus Christ.

Also if there is no God then disprove my existence.

One tip, whenever a support clips into a track, make the last piece the same color as the track so it blends in.

    Thanks I never knew that......

Oh yeah that's a good idea

    Tile inspector works wonders.

As a concept, god is very much in existence. Whether the term "god" actually refers to some extant entity outside of human language and imagination is, on the other hand, debatable.

I didn't mean for this to actually turn into a debate about god

obviously it needs to be aesthetically justified by the park but I'm personally a proponent of just leaving the game's default supports

    Sorry, just couldn't resist!

Honestly, they're not necessary and are usually used by parks more geared toward realism. If you don't need to or don't want to, don't use them.

They constantly clip through objects, they almost never fit to the track at all. Why?

Because their clearances inevitably overlap with the track. If you don't zero clearance they won't clip, but then you won't be able to get them to connect with the track.

Let put it this way, usually no one looks at them long enough to notice mistakes, unless they distract from the whole.

Don't lose your mind over one bent or one flange placement, just as long as it passes the 15 second test, which is probably the max amount of time anyone would focus on one element of the ride.

  • YoloSweggLord%s's Photo

Of course you say that sens, because you've never experienced the joy of custom supporting a steel coaster. Move away from woodies and you'll see how fun it is.
