News / Top Downloaded Parks on New Element

With the recent 2017 incarnations of 'The List', we are automatically exposed to our history. It's created both some analytic and nostalgic exchange between us. New Element holds over 3000 parks today, sent over 15 years, and with the ever ongoing archival work we're doing behind the scenes, we're beginning to grow an increasingly complete mapping of all worthwhile RCT activity there has been since the games came out. Check for instance the date on this park and try to remember where you were that day: https://www.nedesigns.com/park/2129/lost-legends-hidden-valley/

As the site grew and went from version to version, it has sometimes been impossible to avoid data loss. As you'll remember, when geewhzz and I created NE4, we started with a completely fresh and much more integrated database, the one we use now. We had to transfer most previous NE3 content manually, and while we did a pretty thorough job, there was one kind of information we left out for later: the download counts of parks.

Julow brought to our attention the other day that as he was searching for good LL content, he looked for the most downloaded park. This was falsely Twisted's 'Baiht Oashyr Vel Thalloo', one of the few parks I had manually updated back in the day. G Force then created momentum to remedy the unfinished business, and so we consolidated information from NE3's and NE5's databases. He is still updating download counts as this is being posted, but the 'Top Downloaded' sort mechanism should become much more meaningful again. Older members will remember that Highballs' 'Disneyland Park' sat on top even back in the day, and defends its crown for the time being.

So much for what we've been up to these days. If you find you have a strong desire to hunt online for information on very old parks the site is yet missing, do get in touch. And happy park browsing.

I'm really glad we've been able to do this, its put us much more in touch with the site's history and continues to make the database more complete.

Hopefully it actually proves to be worth while for new and old members alike.

7,000 downloads in the grand scheme of the Web isn't all that much. But I find that a testament to how close-knit the RCT community is, how active this forum is despite being a fairly small community. I don't think Chris Sawyer, in his wildest dreams, could have imagined that people would still be playing his game regularly almost 2 decades after it came onto the market.

Ah, this explains why EPWS was sitting on top downloads for all these years since ne4 :p

Was already wondering why that was, but the missing stats from previous versions of the site makes sense.

Good job recovering this, and as I expected Disney parks are the most popular. I also always search for Disney parks first when for example downloading Planet Coaster stuff from Steam.
