With NE5's decision to allow open, anonymous rating on parks and screens for everyone, there were inevitably going to be some misplaced or controversial votes. However, recently we have noticed some pretty suspicious drops in score percentage on a few select releases, mostly high-profile ones.

 

After some investigation we can now see who voted what, and some of these are pretty crass. It is especially disappointing to see some attempted score manipulation come from trusted members, sadly even panelists.

 

These problematic votes were not necessarily influencing panelist scores, but we feel too much integrity is lost if panelists vote with other interests in mind in private, and thus we will remove these people from the panel. They aren't many, and I won't call them out here. We will contact them individually to fix their votes, including all other 'drastic' cases of non-panelists too, which were revealed from a more widespread investigation of anonymous 0-votes, once the initial interest had been ignited.

 

Even if you don't like someone or their work, you should always give adequate and fair ratings. I must say I feel very disappointed to see people vote 0s on spotlight winning parks in an attempt to swing averages thinking this will go unnoticed.  Public scores are meant primarily to give honest feedback and help pre-screen submissions for the Accolade Panel to keep our process moving quickly.  Troll voting, dishonest voting, and especially attempted manipulation of scores by mass high/low voting is not allowable.

 

We do this site together, for each other's enjoyment. We give rct content, thoughts, criticism, encouragement, advice, we organise, manage or maintain the site, depending on our role.  Give your community members the benefit of honest and thoughtful interaction.
