Been a while since there has been a poll like this... I'm interested in seeing what others think. What are the best/worst base-game scenery sets in RCT2? I'm not including necessary utility scenery sets like trees and walls, or stuff like the Six Flags and Panda themeing because they hardly qualify as scenery groups and everyone would pick those.

For me, the best scenery set in the game would be the medieval themeing... it's so versatile and the textures match up with just about everything. The classical/Roman and Egyptian scenery groups, as Ancient Worlds shows, are also up there as both are very useful and aesthetically pleasing and imo would be 2nd or 3rd.

The worst scenery set in the game is, imo the Sports theme. There's not much you can build with it outside of very niche sculptures and it just feels completely out of place for the game; it's still a pretty charming theme though. The Space theme also seems kinda redundant for me... it just feels like an uglier version of the martian scenery. Candy is also very niche.

As for the expansions... the Asia themeing is definitely the best. It actually has some great walls that are better than those in the base game, useful animated scenery that has been converted, okay looking foliage, and even the giant useless sculptures found in most WW/TT sets aren't totally unusable here. The worst imo would be Rock n' Roll themeing... the vehicles are useful but everything else is pointless... half of it is giant animated sculptures and it comes with a hideous path.

Hard to argue with the medieval group being the best, and I think sports is clearly the worst group. Some of the other RCT2 introductions such as giant candy and giant garden are also a bit lackluster, but at least the candy objects are quite neutral and versatile, and the giant garden group has some good foliage additions - and frankly quite cool insect objects too. Who the fuck uses those football objects though?

Need to refamiliarize myself with the expansion groups before I vote, but I can imagine Asian is the best group indeed.

I'm trying to think in terms of the actual scenery sets and I would say either Mine or Jungle theme is top for me, Egyptian and Roman being quite close. Worst are easily sport and giant candy. At least the giant garden has the foliage options. I have the expansions but I'm not too familiar with them, though Asian is definitely a good set. I feel the North American set is good as well, at least for the wind sculpted rocks which are breaking through as good custom scenery. Future theme, Antarctica and Rock n Roll are pretty dreadful.

Mine theme wins easily for me. Extra rooves, extra detailing.... Hard to beat IMO. But the same can be said about the Medieval and default Asian themes...

Expansions? All shit. That redwood tree in the North American theme is inexcusable.

I put Medieval and Egyptian as top because both contain some ncso staples: Portcullis doors and windows and the Egyptian ruins and statues. Mining is also up there with the wooden wall textures plus the barrels are always useful.

Sports is indeed the least useful. I've used the tennis nets as windows or the badminton racket as a round window but I think thats it.
I'd say giant candy is more useful than giant garden because you can find some interesting uses for the jelly beans, fruit drop and marshmallow. I used the Jellybean wall a lot as an egyptian trim in Ancient Worlds too.

I think the cso expansion from LL to rct2 is pretty disappointing. almost all of my favorite objects are in LL or very similar objects, expanded into rct2 scenery pieces. A good chunk of the extra stuff never sat right for me. I've almost never found use for snow related objects, giant candy stuff, and tbh the space scenery. (I like martian tho)

For the expansions? I don't hate the new york pieces and i'm nostalgic for that weird sci-fi city scenario. Theres a few passable gritty textures worth caring about also.

I'm sad that the Six Flags tab wasn't included because those sign pieces have become a staple of recent ncso work. Ah well.

Mine and jungle scenery are probably my top two used tabs given their mix of architectural pieces and small scenery, and the fact that the two blend so well between each other and into the other tabs. I tend not to use the Egyptian or Roman stuff as much as others, but can't deny their useful in regards to walls, ruins, and the like.

Though useful, I've always though the Creepy/Spooky tabs were redundant and could have been made into a single tab, and same probably goes for the Martian and Space stuff as well. The Giant Candy theme isn't much use for me, and other than a few objects in the Sports tab, not much is versatile for reuse.

I don't recall much of the stuff in the expansions, but remember the Grand Canyon rocks and Australian marine park stuff being pretty cool, the pagoda and Indian stuff not being too terrible, and the dinosaurs being absolute trash.
