10 Days, 10 Years

Over NE's many years, it has seen one generation of members come, and another go. With the changing membership, admin constellations have changed too, each imposing their own policy ideals onto the site. Despite this, NE's core mantra has never changed. That is to be the best RCT site there is. Consequently, NE has been criticised as being elitist and sitting at a high horse and frankly speaking, it is true. We are being elitist, but we do it for a reason. We strive for excellent, not good, and award only those who clearly excel at the game. This has been NE's cultural corner stone at all times.

To be fair, it sounds like a pretty pretentious assertion to proclaim oneself as "the best". And yet, you can't help but acknowledge the fact that NE has been the best of RCT sites, and for all of its 10 years. The releases of other sites do not compare to those of NE, and every player who decides to put him to the test here chooses the maximum of RCT competition.

On 18 Mar 2002, NE first appeared on the internet, and in 10 days from now it will be our 10th anniversary. Such long existence is rare for a website, let alone a video game community. But maybe that is because NE is more than just a fan community. It is a hub for creative exchange and artistic performances applied to a video game, creating a timeless discipline.

To celebrate the occasion, we will turn to what sets us apart: our rich history and unique releases. Over the course of 10 days, we will look at each of our years, revisiting important performances, community happenings and stories that defined who we are. As we do so, the greatest releases of the past 10 years will be honoured with exclusive 10 Years Anniversary Awards in the categories Best Design, Best Park and Best Player for both RCTLL and RCT2. Given the extreme level of competition here, these awards are full of prestige. For their selection, a dedicated jury of loyal and knowledgeable members had been cast. The jurors were Turtle, Kumba, Steve, Liampie, Louis! and I, who in lengthy debate made a mutual decision on the best of the best.

As is our tradition, the annual NE Awards are always chosen by everyone in the community. Today, the voting poll for the 2011 NE Awards opens. This is your chance to decide who deserves to be awarded. Please cast your votes in the dedicated topic on the Awards, where you will also find all details on the winner ceremony which will be held on NE's birthday, 18th March. Take my sincere advice: you want to make sure you do not miss the ceremony this year.

We hope you will enjoy the festivities as we go from day to day. What has happened in the past 10 RCT years at NE is more than remarkable, and it is wholly thanks to the people who have shared their passion for the game with us. We are deeply grateful for what we have had, and look forward to what there shall be in hopefully many more years to come.

Agreed, it's beautiful. I love the community and I'm glad to help where I can! We're lucky that my study isn't too busy at the moment, though, so I can help you with this anniversary stuff. Trust me, NE, the upcoming days are going to be fun!

We do have lots planned. And lots of surprises! Cannot wait for this coming week!

While I never really managed to create something mind-blowing myself in any of the Rollercoaster Tycoon-games due to a heavy lack of patience, I admire the fact that this close-knit community of amazing builders still exists to this day. Congratulations on your tenth anniversary! Let's see if we can go for another ten, or five, or... Well, we'll see! Perhaps I'll unveil one of my super secret (awkward, horrible, pathetic, tear-shedding) creations after all these years. Only if I can find them in my poorly organized archive, ofcourse.

Anyway back on topic yes very well done posix, I have only been here for a few months but intend to be here for along time sharing my parks with people that are also passionate about rct, These 10 year celebrations have been very interesting for me reading about the legends of old, Learning more about the site and where it came from So thanks to all the people that contributed to the 10 year anniversary. Heres to another 10

We believe that when announcing the award times we may have announced them wrong for some of our American members. If you think that the ceremony is due to start in 10 minutes, it isn't.
