Ask the Experts / Tips for doing shoestring coasters?

I'm wondering if anyone can explain the normal process for creating a shoestring coaster. I did it once before, but I was unable to get the two circuits exactly the same length, so it would break after a couple of circuits. I've seen shoestring coasters that don't seem to get out of sync, and I'm wondering how it's done. Is there a way to see exactly how long each circuit is?

Also, does anyone know if it's possible to make it work in block sectioned mode? I suspect it probably is, but I never tested it. If it isn't I'll just run one train and put the other in the transfer.

Okay, so in theory it's possible to have a shoestring with block sections, but your game will hate you for it so I suggest not doing it untill you really know what you are doing.

About the synching, it's indeed a very difficult job. The trick is in the corners. You need to make sure both tracks have the same types and amount of corners. The straight track isn't a problem, but if you are using special elements (so a track going from horizontal to vertical for example also counts) the other track needs to have it too. I believe elevation shouldn't be a problem from what I remember, but if you skip a elevation level and use a special element this will trow the sync off unless you use it in the other track too.
Also make sure if you use tracks which go back and forth etc you really count well.

Or just be lazy and when you want to merge them together again you start worrying about your timing and use corners etc to get the sync right again. From what I remember if you make one car take a large corner and one a small corner you can win half a track. and using 1/8 corners can fix other issues.
