Through The Ages - Round 3 Voting

    Logo by J K

    Round 3 Graphic
Round 3 - The Age Of Exploration

    1400 - 1600

Set sail for uncharted waters and distant shores. In Round 3, you'll design a park inspired by the Age of Exploration — a time when brave navigators crossed vast oceans to discover new lands and cultures. From the New World to the spice routes of the East Indies, from Portuguese trading posts in Japan to Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe, the world was being mapped and connected like never before. Chart your course and bring this era of discovery to life.
    Objectives
    • Your park must be set between the years 1400 and 1600, or themed to that era.

    • Your park must feature a port or dock in a recently explored location. This could include the New World, Portuguese exploration in Japan/China, the Indian Ocean, Magellan's expedition, or other Age of Exploration destinations.

    • Your park must include a prominent tracked water ride.

    Voting

Before voting, please ensure you have viewed all entries below. The first question asks you to evaluate which park or parks have met the above Objectives the best. The second question asks you to choose the park or parks with the highest Quality. You may vote for multiple parks in each question. The poll will be closed in approximately 72 hours, after which the total vote for each park will calculated and the park with the highest number of votes will be declared the winner of the round, granting its creator(s) entry to the Grand Final.

AJ's Alamo Expo AJ Remember the Alamo, Honey! The Alamo Expo combines hundreds of years of Texas exploration. Across the park researchers, archeologists, divas, shopkeepers, and wildlife experts are all sharing an afternoon by the Alamo. Layers of history sit under the modern day park. The first forts were built in the 1500s, old ships and treasure are being recovered!
Bocas Del Tero Jens J. (95%) and J K (5%) In 1502, Christopher Columbus embarks on his fourth and final transatlantic expedition. During this voyage, he arrives at the shores of Bocas Del Toro, which we now know as a place in the far land that is Panama. Bocas del Toro is inhabited by the "NE-gäbe" tribe, a group of inhabitants now known for their expertise in OpenRCT2. They're living their best lives in a village filled with huts, pots and… a launched water coaster? Join Captain Columbus and his crew on the discovery of this mysterious place. Who knows what this place has in store for you!
Memories of Mauritius Kumba (50%) and deanosrs (50%) The island of Mauritius was first settled in 1598 by Europeans and did not have a native population - except for the diverse wildlife of dodos, parrots and monkeys. Over the years it became a popular port for trade and eventually pirates came. The island has an incredible and unique landscape with caves, mountains, exotic sands and even the illusion of an underwater waterfall.

Some quick early thoughts. All three great entries. Well done! They all have points in which they shine.

Panama was narratively the strongest imo. Mauritius had the best rides, although I'm a sucker for heartline coasters. Alamo had the best soundtrack.

    Going by the objectives:
I liked most how Panama was actually set in this era.

Mauritius being a gorgeous port was my favorite interpretation of the second prompt.

Lastly I liked the water ride in Mauritus best as well. It was fun to explore the map through that ride.

Lovely entries from all. Was a tough vote this one

    AJ's Alamo Expo

To my tastes at least, the AJ-TTA quality has ramped up round by round. This is the best yet for sure. The colors pop nicely, I especially like the roto drop reflecting the palette of the park.

Double decker log flume is great, and the boardwalk exploration is lovely. So many underwater details to look at there and lovely crunch across the map.

My fav spot was the scuba divers diving on a wreck by the beach.

    Bocas Del Toro

Perfectly Jens! The ride itself has a great flow to it. I love how your landscaping flows in shapes and colors. The bullrush usage looked great to me. The tree selection is really on point too. A lesser talked about Jens-trademark is the transparent sign to form various shapes and symbols. Always a unique look! The last one I spotted was the treetop walkway over the water ride before the station.

Loved my guest shoutout - minideano 2 is usually the well behaved one so never a good day when he goes missing!

The River Styx shoestringed flatride was lovely too, great to see multiple maps give the CHE-trees a great workaround this round.

    Jens and JK

When I think of jens I think of killer landscaping and hella immersion! The lush jungle is sooo nice! The pop of colors in the flowers and butterflies is gorge. The cave detailing and shadow is so cool. Plus the whole shore is done well. The furry in the woods is funny af. All the peep scenes along the shore are great. I also love all the peeps from the boat showing them seeing the new land for the first time. The farm areas are cute, and how is that poor scarecrow :( i hope he earns a living wage. I also dont think Ill be able to help that poor man hanging from the track! I think the waters deep enough for him to let go. Hope theres no piranhas.  The big boats are done well too!

The buildings around the park are all cohesive and look great. The ropes course and charaqui slides (?) are my favortie bit of archi. The station for the Quibian water coaster is dope, love the rotation platform.  I love how the two splash downs sync up every now and then. The launch is such a good choice! The alpine coaster is my fav ride in the park tho, it looks great!

As far as the contest goes this is a great solid entry! Its really giving age of exploration. I think the port/ dock aspect is a little more subtle, the indigenous canoe dolls! I love it. Its giving new world realness. I love jens rct!

    Kumba and Deanosrs

Holy cow this is such a fun map to explore! There's probably as much as you could possibly due in one month! I love how well utilized the landscape is. The waterfalls go from top to bottom and the peeps, the rides, and the paths interact so well with the terrain. Even the caves are FULL of scenes. I <3 bats!  The caves are absolutely my favorite bit of landscaping, especially the scene with the lift and josh! Im also really impressed with all the peep scenes! I do them with scenery mostly, i needa start naming them like yall did! I like how steve is in danger! LOL. I like how im the bouncer too.

Now this is a ton of archi! I am so scared of buildings. I love the lower fort the most. The stage sunk down is so COOL i wanna play a bassoon recital there. The view of the lift and the zipline just adds so much. Cmon peep sight lines! All these boats look peek too, all mine were dead and sunken! The wooden coaster is nuts!! Im a little curious to reason behind the corkscrew track? Its it because you needed the dive loop pieces? I also think calling it a GCI is so cute. Were in this insane fantasy land with and but GCI IS HERE!!!! I love it.

As far as the contest goes Im a huge fan of this park, Its very relatable. Its fast, passionate, and shows a love for the game. The port and exploration aspect are super obvious!

This park is so diva. You really built IT! Congrats builder.

All three entries fulfill the objectives (as well as being high quality) quite well. There’s ports, ships and a sense of exploration. Well done!

    AJ's Alamo Expo

Personally I preferred AJ’s round 1 and 2 submissions. Compared to them this one feels a little empty, despite being filled with nice little scenes. I think the boardwalks dominate the macro and steal the spotlight from the rest of the area.

The log flume is a strong contender for the best ride of this round.

    Bocas Del Toro

Cute and fun little park. I really like the coaster. It manages to feel realistic while still being innovative, a great combination of attributes. The tropical foliage and beach combination is very well executed, downright inspiring!

    Memories of Mauritius

Holy density Batman! I like to compare RCT to building miniatures and this submission is a perfect example of that. Each centimeter is filled with fun little scenes and settings to explore. The rides weave in and out of each other and the landscape, and the landscaping is incredible! The coaster suffers from being specified as a GCI without looking like a GCI, in the setting I think a fantasy ride would have been a better fit. But it’s a minor thing, the over all quality of this submission is incredible.

What an interesting round, three super high-quality entries! Really enjoyed viewing all of these.

    AJ's Alamo Expo

First of all, congrats on making a solo entry into every round so far! Truly impressive to keep up this level of building and inspiration by yourself. I had a lot of fun looking around the Alamo and really enjoyed the log flume layout. Overall I thought it took a bit too much liberty with the time period objective, it felt a bit more themed to 1800s, but I did really enjoy the exploring the park!

    Bocas Del Toro

This was a cool entry, it really captured the 1500's feel! The water coaster was super fun and definitely very prominent. I think the entry could have been elevated to another level with centerpiece like a larger ship, or perhaps a landscape feature, to draw everything together. But overall I think it perfectly targeted the objectives, and it's done with a great aesthetic. Loved the vibe!

    Memories of Mauritius

Kumba, Deano, you guys are crazy with this. So many details and corners to explore. I didn't even have the advanced track plugin working on the first viewing, and I spent so long looking around. Then of course the water ride was so cool. Really well done and can't believe you packed it all in there like this. Besides the amazing quality, I thought you did decent on the objectives but the water ride could have been more prominent, and the buildings all felt a lot later time period than 1600. Felt more like 1700s time period. But nevertheless, a fantastic RCT accomplishment and couldn't be happier to see it from a team of NE legends. And props to Deano for three TTA 50% duo entries in a row! That's a lot of building!
