General Chat / Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm

Went to opening day today, and I must say, I love this new coaster! It's not as intense as Batman, but for me, it had plenty of forces. The helix is pretty wicked, very reminiscent of Goliath, or Top Gun (PGA). The way it weaves through its layout is fantastic, really carving through what used to be Reflection Lake.

My favorite seat is front row, left side. Pretty intense on the loop and has great forces on the overbank, zero-g-roll, and first corkscrew.

The theming on this ride is also really fantastic, about as good as you can expect from a non-Disney theme park, and I heard a lot of great reviews from the GP.

Now, you might year forum enthusiasts bash it, but they're pretty critical anyway. Bottom line: this is an awesome coaster and a definite hit for Knott's. They have a new flagship coaster.

I'll get pictures up as soon as I can... I need to wait for a response from Jim Disney of www.westcoaster.net to see if he'd like to use them, and if not, I'll put them up here.

Damn, it's already open? Whoa, time flies...it seems like yesterday I was looking at the concept art.

About the ride: it's a B&M, it's gonna kick ass.
  • JBruckner%s's Photo
    Is it just a straight-up B&M Floorless?

^ It's an Invert. And I believe it's an original layout. Correct me if I'm wrong, Cork.

I remember looking at the video of this way back when he first put it up and thinking that i'd love to ride this coaster. That trip to America can't come soon enough.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
    Yes. Inverted coaster.

ACN ( www.americacoasters.com ) has an update up already. I haven't checked RC Pro, but they either have one up as well or should any time now.

    it's basically Raptor.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Eh... half yes and half no. It really fits into the park, and it's got a ramped drop instead of a sharp one and a nifty overbank, plus not mid course break run. :D

Hehe..been watching Silver Bullet since it was still on the field. :) And yeah, enthusiasts can be really stuck up and idiotic sometimes since they will criticize SB for being a B&M. Get over yourselves.

If you want a little laugh, take a look at what's become of the Walter K. Steamboat as the result of Silver Bullet's shrinkage of Reflection Lake.

The boat ride went from going around this to simply going around this.

And here's a sample night shot for you guys.

That night shot of the coaster is unbelievably awesome.

the steamboat thing took me a minute to figure out, but then i realized that the island is about 8 feet wide, making the ride rather pointless.

Maybe because that just might be the most beautiful coaster shot ever. Yeah.

Yeah, Silver Bullet is a great addition to the park. They've needed another good full circuit coaster for a while now, since aside from Ghostrider, there weren't any other longer, thrilling coasters in the park (Xcelerator is very fun, but it's too short). Now they have a solid coaster collection.

The ride was excellent, probably my favorite or second favorite B&M inverted coaster (out of 7), and maybe in my top ten of coasters. I still need to ride it a few more times to be sure of exactly how much I like it in comparison to others. The loop was good and the overbank was really fun and provided some nice hangtime/air and a view. The cobra roll was cool since it went over the entrance. The zero-G roll didn't do much for me, but I probably just was too disoriented to notice it or something. I'm sure I'll enjoy it plenty on later rides, since zero-G rolls are usually awesome. And the corkscrews with the pop of air in the middle was great. And I became a little dizzy in the helix, which was cool. One of the best parts of the ride is that it goes around so much of the park and intermingles with the scenery and paths. Also, because of this it ties the park together more, so that it doesn't feel like there's the desolate (ridewise) Ghostrider/Ghost Town side of the park and the side of the park with the rides. This is also because of how it's central to the park's layout, there are now several paths going to it, and it's easy to see throughout the park.

Anyways, it's a great ride that I'm looking forward to riding multiple times during Solace. I wish I could've rode it more on opening day (the park was empty; Ghostrider was a walk-on, SB only had about a 10 minute wait, Xcelerator was at around 5-10 minutes), but I had to get back and study for finals.

Even though I know you're just joking, I have no idea how you can possibly deriving that... especially since I'm grinning.

Did they repaint Montezooma's Revenge, or has it always been that color on the map? I'm not sure because I only have the blue and white monochromatic one..
