has any one seen this yet?
i saw it last night and i must say i thought it was going to be terrible and wouldnt compare to the original but it wasnt half bad. They really captured the atmosphere in the house right and that little girl standing on the roove scared me.
anyways i dont want to talk too much incase i give anything away.
but if you have seen this film, what did you think? -

If you have to rely on jump scenes to make a film scary, it's not really a scary film at all. -

the girl standing on the roove isnt a jump scene.
im not too fond of jump scenes either, yeah they can add to the film but the overall story and plot has to be scary and pretty involved.
for example, the grudge i thought was total shit full of jump scenes and didnt have a strong enough story, then seven included no jump scenes but scared the shit out of me. -

What's the deal with the film being a "semi-true" story? Some people I've asked says it IS real, some say it isn't...
The only thing that really captivated my interest was RR with his shirt off... -

The events in the film have been hugely twisted to make it better on screen. A lot of the things never happened at all (the whole corridor thing near the end, with that guy), and what was there was way overdone (the flies - there were flies, but only a ew qhich kept reappearing when windows were shut, etc).
Although there is a lot of debate over whether the original story was true or a fake.. -

I have no idea wether it is true or not but i suppose you could say that about the Exorcist, who knows wether that was fake or true, it's very hard to beleive something that terrifying actually happened. -

Hello.
The DeFeo murders happened...
The Lutz family apparently "hoaxed" the whole thing, yet they were left bankrupt and without belongings after they left...
Right...
Weird, but we will really never know. The whole thing was written off as a hoax.
I just enjoy the story in general, and the remake was solid.

There was a book written on the family that perpetrated to be "true", but was found out to be a hoax. That's what the original movie was based on, and it included alot of ridiculous shit that never happened.
If the amityville horror ever happened, it's nothing different than a usual "haunting". Weird noises, strange occurances, ect.
And I haven't seen the remake. -

It's not so much jump scenes in the movie (although there were a bunch of those) as it was imagery. A whole lot of screwed up imagery. Especially the final corrider scene. If you have to rely on jump scenes to make a film scary, it's not really a scary film at all.
Anyone else notice Ryan's eyes? What. The. Hell.
The guy who directed this reminds me of Bill Malone. Anyone else get a 'House on Haunted Hill' type feel from watching this? Not similar story-wise, just cinematography-wise.
