RCT Discussion / Coloring

I read posts way more than writing them, probably because I'm a slow typer. If there were a counter for "posts read" it would be in the quad digits.

With that in mind, I'd like to make a general statement about people's comments pertaining to the coloring of other people's parks.

First and foremost is the color palette that we all have to work with. One of the more challenging aspects when building a park is the choice of colors. The variety of colors available in the game verses the amount of colors we live with and see everyday is significantly different.

Too many times I've wanted a color that just isn't there. I think there's a total of 32 colors: four rows of eight. It might seem more than enough, but I believe the depth or detail of work that's being done in your parks fall short in its relation to color depth or detail, which is not a fault of anyone.

Another major issue that is commonly over-looked by quite a few is the fact that these are amusement parks. We are building to amuse eachother both figuratively and litteraly. Colors are utilized to suggest and enhance the amount of fun.

Out of all the parks and posts I've seen here, I would honestly say that a very small percentage of them have actually had some kind of color clash in thier parks. Some of those even came from well established players. It seemed that their reputation granted them a type of color clash immunity.

The details in which we see color in our lives is from the layering of hues or a distinct reflective contrast which helps to seperate colors. Everyone has their own favorite color and combinations of colors.

When we express through colors truth only exists in black and white while color is an extention of our individual perception or paradigm.

i don't know what point you wanted to get across, because frankly, for me you don't have one, but what you said about the colour limitation in rct, let me tell you that you don't always have to refer to the 32 colours you mentioned, but also to the colours of theming objects, trees and ground textures. rct1 and 2 are 256 colours after all. and i think that's well enough.

simplicity can be part of elegance, which should be the number one goal of every park.
    this goes for colours aswell.

talking about colours of rct is pretty interesting. i thought about this for a long time.
rct 1 and 2 have 256 colours (as far as i know; maybe WME knows better; there might be three colours less for the colourable things and such.)
if you combine those colours you can get (almost) every colour you want. what i just noticed is that most objects in LL use this trick. they combined several colours to a new colour, which makes them look much better than colourable rct2 objects, just using "one colour" (to be excact it's more than one colour. it's 8 or 10 or such. just look at the obj. editor to find out exactly)

what i want to say is that this combination of colours and those unique LL objects might be a reason for the its elegance.

Yeah I agree with most of the things you've said, Beejer, but I don't understand what you're 'getting at'...or maybe you don't have a point and you were just ruminating...

There are a lot more than 32 colours. Well, in LL there are alot more. With LL you have different coloured ground types, different coloured walls and fences. The problem with RCT2 is that it replaces these colours with the selectable 32. Unfortunate. Futhermore, textures can affect colour, generally because there is a play on light, or a slight juxtaposition of dark vs. colour.

I've had the same problem -

as to the rest of your post - yeah, color rocks.
