RCT Discussion / Losing your parks...

I was wondering...
How many of you have ever lost a park that you've mode a few years back? Because I figured a nice idea might be to create a database of all the parks ever made in RCT. It would also be possible to upload all your parks whenever you want. There would be a system where you can search by parkname, parkmaker or theme, and you can upload other people's old parks to make sure no parks are ever lost again.
Would this be useful to anybody or would I be wasting my time?

I think if we lost it then there is no way to get it back. meaning this would be useless.

and not everybody will just give you all their completed work.

I think the point is that if we do it then nobody will have to loose them again. However, who will give up the space? Every park ever made is a lot of stuff...

Especially with the filesizes for RCT2.

It's a good idea, but next to impossible to implement.

From July, I'll have a server with a 300gb hard disk in in my flat. Possible then?

Actually, I kept it as long as that computer was alive... promise... and I'm sorry I didn't back it up, or something, either... I guess I was hoping the computer would make it a bit longer than it did... which was a stupid... sorry...

Freeola have unlimited web space for their clients. So that wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah this idea has been considered from time to time. Danimation had something like that. At one time I think we talked about expanding the list and letting people upload parks and all of that. Space and bandwidth is the problem though and it's an even bigger problem now when you're talking about RCT2 parks.

Anyway I would like to see a park database like what used to be up on RCT Station back before it went down. The parks were listed in alphabetical order either by name or parkmaker and then each letter had an icon, all the names beginning with that letter were under there.

Don't worry...I have unlimited space and bandwidth so that's really not a problem.
I'll start work on this soon...
